If you're on Twitter, check out the hash tag #saidnoteacherever. Here are some of the funniest: andew_mcgovern "There, their, they're... Hey man, it's all the same to me." #saidnoteacherever Ktvee "I teach because I love the light in a child's eye when I hand him a worksheet." #saidnoteacherever Bacharac "The best part of my job is teaching to the test!" #saidnoteacherever If you aren't on Twitter, add your own #saidnoteacherever here!
BNT, Is twitter similar to what we do here? I was just curious about the content, and if it's like FB, where everyone and anyone wants to be your friend. Every time someone sends me a friend notice; if I do not know them, I don't bother with it. It always reminds me of the little children's song, "Will you be my friend?" I've heard people bragging about how many friends they have. I've given them expressions of, "...AND do I look like I care?" I got on FB so I can stay in touch with relatives and friends from college and high school. Rebel1
Rebel, Twitter is a social networking site like Facebook, but it generates conversations and connections in different ways. You have "followers" rather than friends and the point for most is to "follow" people with similar interests. I follow 116 people, celebrities, companies, news shows, etc. Very few of those 116 are people I really know. On Facebook, I know all of my "friends" in real life.
I did this for the money, said no teacher ever. I can best fulfill the needs of my students by filling out the endless stack of paperwork on my desk, said no teacher ever.
Thanks Bandnerdtx! It sounds very interesting. I just might check it out. Have a GREAT Sunday, Rebel1
My favorite was from a meme - I hate summer #saidnoteacherever All we do in kindergarten is play #saidnoteacherever
At our district start up meeting, the school board president gave us a top ten of things teachers never say. Much like this twitter hash tag, I imagine! It was great!
Free Day! #saidnoteacherever (said no GOOD teacher ever) A teacher that didn't get rehired used to teach next to me. Her student would file in asking "free day today?" Made me realize how many free days must happen if they ask her every day. She never had a good answer when I asked her about it.
Haha...that reminded me of the "Stuff Teachers Say" videos on Youtube, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg8i-z_JWrY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEuQSOaKNfA&feature=related This is funny because I imagine some of the things are specific to the teachers, so there are probably a lot of inside jokes. I love "call me RyRy." and "Leave your trash, walk slowly to class and be late." and "No, there isn't any symbolism in To Kill a Mockingbird." This made me think of what my students would probably say that I would never say: Sure, go ahead and line up at the door. Stand out in the hallway if you want. Please take the erasers and stress balls I bought for you to use and tear them up and throw them at each other. That's what they're there for! It's 90 degrees in here and we only have three fans, but please, go ahead and turn them so they are all blowing directly on you. Go ahead and move all the laptops around out of order. I enjoy putting them all back everyday. Pop a few keys off while you are at it. This video is good too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWOrhScI7z4&feature=related I like "That's ok. My flash drive randomly erases all my files all the time, too." and "I love how this photocopier is so efficent."
Thank you for sharing that Bandnerd--hilarious! I like all the references to education policy as well-please politicians get more involved in education initiatives.
At my school it would be something like this: 'yes, go ahead and tag all the desks. Don't just use pencil, use the metal end of it, so this way your gang's fame will stay here forever.' 'you can ask me for a marker and tag up the textbooks, too. This way when others actually want to learn, they'll be distracted by your gang's initials. If you really wanna do it right, don't ask me for a marker, steal it from my drawer.'
We're going into a contact negotiation and things are a bit adversarial to begin with right now in my state overall...lots of changes that have people concerned, asking questions, anxious. Not a good way to start of the school year.
Yeah, I was going to say - like a lot of humor, it's ok to say it about ourselves. When someone else says it, you get defensive. lol. I wouldn't want to hear some of those statements from my admin. Mostly because they expect us to say those things for real a lot of the time.
My Internet is very, very slow today...frustrating! I tried and tried to watch one of the videos earlier but didn't get much past when he was excited about bus duty and grabbed the reflective vest...which was funny! So I probably didn't get the full feel of the video.
I had to have a lot of free days last year. my school has such an attendance problem that each quarter, I had to spend one or two days doing nothing but hounding whoever was in the room to do all the assignments and tests they had zeroes for so they would pass. I tried to give the few, very few, on the ball students some fun enrichment activities using real data, but some of them got resentful about that. I really, really, really do not want this to happen again this year. Supposedly, we have better school wide policies in place.
I love spending my Sunday evening writing lesson plans using a standard district template. #saidnoteacherever
Love this one from the site you posted cat Merit pay is the motivation I need to improve my practice. #SaidNoTeacherEver So true! This copy machine works great! #saidnoteacherever
I don't bring my own water bottle to school because the water from the water fountain tastes so much better, and it's so much more sanitary. #saidnoteacherever
I love that procedures are changed and you only know about it if you happen to be in the principal's office when she decides it, #saidnoteacherever
"I only work 180 days and have all the holidays off" #saidnoteacherever "I love teaching 4 subjects" #saidnoteacherever
I just dyed my hair and not a single student noticed. #SaidNoTeacherEver My teacher education college taught me all of the complex realities of teaching. #SaidNoTeacherEver What's coffee? #SaidNoTeacherEver
I love when that parent shows up for an unannounced visit. #saidnoteacherever No preps? That's okay. I never need to use the rest room during the day. #saidnoteacherever Sure, I'd love to host a booth at the fall festival from 9 to 5 on Saturday. #saidnoteacherever
