    Besides me, of course!

I have applied to over 50 jobs in 4 districts and at a couple private schools. Monday the 22nd, from my understanding, is the first day back for many administrative/hiring personnel in Texas (at least I know it is for 2 of the districts I have applied for).

My nerves are just about shot!

I graduated in May with my BA in English, since then I have certified EC-6, 4-8, ESL and will be taking my SpEd TExES exam on August 1st. :dizzy:

Starting to feel really really anxious about the job situation as the last communication I had from any P at ALL was over a month ago (the day before they went on summer leave)!

I'm going through an ACP and am starting to think maybe I will need to do the 12 week unpaid internship which I was hoping to avoid.

So....who all is still waiting for an offer, what are you certified in and what are your current options!

Still waiting. I am certified PreK--8th but haven't taught above 4th.

I am waiting to hear about a PreK interview that I had on Thursday.

I have two other applications pending: one is for first grade and one is for K. I was told by the P that she would guarantee me an interview for the first grade job. They won't be interviewing until the first week of August, though.

I received a verbal offer 2 weeks ago, but I still don't even know the salary :(
I responded to over 270 job postings and I have been contacted by 21 different districts/schools to interview.

I'm waiting for an interview for a K position. The P called May 31 to tell me I was on his interview list as soon as he had enough to fill a class and it might be end of July when he got enough. I was just glad he called with information!

I hope it goes well since I've interviewed before and he told me my pre-k experience was what he looked for in a K teacher. When I go past the school and there are cars there I chant 'please be registering for kindergarten'. The longer it takes I keep hoping everyone else on his list has found something, less competition for me! LOL

Nothing yet. I applied for six positions for my rather specialized subject within an hour's drive, had three interviews and no offers. I am waiting to see if anything else will pop up this summer to which I can apply.

It could be worse. I do have a job at a parochial school, but it is an hour and a half commute one way. I just can't sustain it anymore after five years.

The big problem I am having seems to be my advanced degrees and 15 years of experience. I am losing positions to less expensive beginners. That should give some solace to you folks just starting out, at least.

K-6, ESL, Middle School LA(in two states) plus additional HS English and Instructional Technology (in one) certs. Applied to 60+ districts, over 115 jobs in two states. 6 interviews, all jobs went to teachers with "more experience". I have been told they are getting more than 500 apps in most jobs around here.
Still looking and adding another state or two.

I'm not waiting anymore, but I had 2 weeks where I was scrambling...I know, 2 wks isn't long to fret.

I wish everyone luck! :) BTW, what are everyone's Plan Bs (& maybe Cs) if your first choice doesn't work out?

I have two plans which I am tinkering with at the moment:

    1) Sub full time for my #1 choice district and continue to serve at night. Then reapply in the Spring and/or hope I get a LTS spot or mid-year replacement.

or 2) Contact my ACP and do the 12 week unpaid internship, secure my standard certificate and apply again next year (and work as a server at night).

#2 Is my last resort option. I really need the income of subbing and serving...or teaching.

Still waiting. I have my first interview for a 2nd grade position on Monday. Hoping to get some good news after that!

My Plan B is to keep substituting until something comes up!

Applied to many different districts & many positions. I specialize in K-6th but have add'l cents in ELA & reading all the way up to 9th grade. Just bought a house so relocating is not an option. A handful of interviews but nothing promising right now.

My plan B? Sub in a diff district from what I did last semester

    C? Find a different field

I am still waiting. Option 1- I applied for a job in my dream district, I made it to the next round. Option 2 - My old job may call me back after laying me off. Option 3- Something totally unexpected may turn up.

I am a SPED Generalist and I just graduated in May. I haven't even had any interviews yet but I made the mistake of only applying to the top districts I wanted. I have since expanded the search and I finally got an interview for the district I wanted this week. *fingers crossed*

People keep warning me that my top two desired districts are famous for hiring in July/August but it is so scary and stressful to wait that long.

Graduated in May with a M.A. Ed. - Secondary Education - Math. So far, only applied at "local" school districts (less than 30 miles from home) and managed to land 3 interviews. Presently, I am teaching summer school but this is my last week. An LTS position just opened up about 25 miles away and I applied to that one. I hope to get an interview there. :D

Still waiting for a teacher position. I have a para position in line if I don't get a teacher. I'm actually at peace with the para job because we wouldn't have to move and I have a daycare I've registered that I love for my girls to go to.

    No interviews, no offers here.

I have 33 applications out there for both ABA and Special Education positions and have only got one or two calls.

I have a "termination" (private company) and non-renewal on my record but both for non-teaching support staff positions. And I have no actual license number yet because the local department of ed is about 6 months behind in applications. Lots running against me. :help: :(

Can you explain the non-renewal and termination if it comes up in an interview? I mean, was it something bad or something political?

I don't know if it was your thread or not, but lack of a license shouldn't hurt. A principal can call the state and easily find out an applicant's status. Just note on your résumé that it is pending. They must know the deal already, though.

I can explain both very easily. One was on the last day of the fiscal year and did not give cause (basically they just wanted me out...paid my unemployment and everything still), and the non-renewal I was highly encouraged to re-apply but went back to grad school full time instead.

The license thing...I know public schools can call and get my license within two days in my state, but I've already got a call from a private school saying they can't do it (no superintendent, only an executive director) and need a certified teacher for the job. Private SPED schools are about half of my application list!

I have had 2 interviews (both in June); today, the elementary principal emailed me saying to please call her around 3pm!

I hope this is good news as the interview was less than ideal: they had the ac shut off and I had a cardigan on and was sweating so much I had to grab a tissue off her desk! We seemed to connect but she didn't actually have any jobs open at the time; was just making a backup list for when teachers who had given her a heads up they may be leaving actually gave her he call over the summer.

Praying this is good news! Its a title 1 elementary and id love to have the chance to improve their test scores!

I called at the appointed time, and no answer. It was the main school number, though. I emailed the P and gave her my number and asked her to call me; also said that I'd be happy to call her at another number if she preferred.

I have to go to work in 30 minutes, gah!! :(

Still waiting. Applied to about 50 positions in my area (expanding to an hour drive) and have received 20 straight rejections, 30 I still haven't heard from, and only 1 interview. Can't relocate because I signed a year lease. Certified 1-8 with field/teaching experience in 2-8. Taught summer school to 3-6th graders.

Just started applying to sub positions and the district I really want (the one I taught summer school in) won't post until Mid-August...if there are openings.

Just started working retail again after 2 years and am hoping I can sub and make up for the rest.

Otherwise, plan C is to find something else all together:( I need insurance! At least, dental and vision - gotta look good on the off chance (No, when) I get an interview:)

I graduated in May, 2012 and still have nothing. I have noticed this year that there are fewer jobs open than last year (in areas I am certified in at least) and I now have a whole new crop of graduates to compete with.

Inservice starts this week and next week in most districts in my area. I have an interview on Thursday and feel that will be my last hope for the new school year. Thankfully I have a summer position and can get back into subbing when it ends. I have started applying for positions in higher education and would have no issue working there if I could.

I just got off work and as I was driving home I got THE CALL! The principal said that their phone system has been down all day and so she was unable to call or answer the phone when I called....but she didn't want me to be in suspense all night so she called with an OFFER!! WOOT!

I just have to wait for an official background check and fingerprinting for the ISD (but I've already subbed for the ISD so it should be all-clear) and then you're looking at the newest THIRD GRADE TEACHER in Texas! :D

I'm still waiting and hope is fading quickly. Teachers return to preplanning on Monday and students to the classroom Aug 5th in my area. I have an interview for a SpEd School for a part time resource position Friday. I had an initial phone interview last week and this is the face to face interview. It would be a great fit for our family schedules wise etc...but at this point I'm so down in the dumps about myself after so many rejections that I doubt they will hire me. I'm sure I'll come in second to someone else like always.
