    An American Classic; not sure To Kill a Mockingbird will ever be topped.

    I was in the middle of an English department meeting when the news broke. Our principal was a little perplexed at our collective howls of grief, but since he's a former guidance counselor, he dealt with it well.

    Ms. Lee was a gifted writer with a wonderful personality. May she rest in peace.

    She was a gifted writer. Too bad we don't have more from her. She was a very interesting person.

    The literary world, and the world in general, lost a great person in Harper Lee.
