Found out today that I'm RIF'd. My position got cut. I can't say I'm surprised, what with everything going on right now and my position was new this year anyway. I'm not feeling very optimistic about finding another teaching job for next year though. I think everyone will be cutting music programs. I still have my rec. center job, so I'm not completely SOL. I'm so glad I have side skills. I'm thinking of other options to segue into. Corporate trainer seems a decent one, and the local CC had emailed me about a job right before all this covid stuff went down. I'm just worried about hiring freezes lasting too long. I imagine in-home childcare will be in demand, and I've been a very well-paid private tutor before. I live in an area adjacent to McMansion-ville, so I may be able to capitalize on parents worried about their children's academics because of e-learning. Guess it's time to update my resume.
I am so sorry. This happened to me almost 10 years ago, and I ended up finding a job in an adjacent county. I met 2 of my very best friends in that new school. I ended up going back to my original county three years later, because it was a lot more convenient. But, I always think about how I never would have met those 2 ladies if that sad thing hadn't happened to me.
