Rhee and DC showing improvements in math!

    "No doubt Ms. Rhee's critics will point out that a generally upward trend preceded her tenure. But they cannot deny the dramatic gains under her leadership while much of the rest of the nation stayed stagnant. Equally impressive is that the increases came as a higher proportion of students with special needs took the tests this year."

    Didn't they fire a lot of tenured teachers? Is that what made scores go up? I think they also forced a lot of Charter school kids back into public school which would have brought some higher scores to the table.

    Bet there's a lot of pressure from admin there.

    The scores include charter schools and traditional public schools. Charter schools are considered public, and most charter school scores and enveloped into the public school scores.

    What has Rhee done specifically to raise scores? I'm really, really curious about it.
