    cutting down my resume

    Hello everyone.

I've been busy cutting down my elem. ed resume today.

I am debating whether I should delete the following from my volunteer work:
"Ran a half-marathon and raised $4,000 dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society"

Is this considered unnecessary fluff? Or does it show that I am a teacher who values health and nutrition?

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't put it on my resume. I might include it in the interview if they asked a pertinent question--or I might include it in the "Tell me About yourself" question, if it was particularly important in my life.

Unless your résumé is really, really bare, I'd just leave that off. It isn't relevant.

I also think you should leave it off. It's wonderful - but doesn't apply!

If you have a small section for "Personal Interests", it MIGHT work, but you probably have plenty of professional information. Heck, I've been slowly deleting my past non-teaching positions as I continue advancing in my school.

I don't like it at all on a resume.

    But that's wonderful. :)

Thanks for the advice!! I took it off, as deep down I suspected everyone would suggest.

On a positive note, after taking that and all of my other child-related volunteer stuff off... I was able to get my resume down to one page! and I think it's pretty solid... fingers crossed.
