Hello! Can anyone recommend any good books for new subs? (K-6.) I'm not so much looking for lesson plans or forms, just general tips and maybe a few games, etc.

    Thanks!

I've never read it, but Substitute Teacher Handbook by Jim Walters was recommended at my district's sub orientation.

I'm a new sub, too. I've been absolutely loving Substitute Teaching A to Z by Barbara Pressman. It has helped me so much during my first few days subbing and I will be buying it as soon as I get paid (I rented it from the library) for future reference.
I also checked out The First Days of School by Harry and Rosemary Wong. It is mainly for new full-time teachers, but has a lot of good classroom management techniques and other information that is useful for subs, too.

Thanks! I did see a few different books on Amazon and wasn't sure which to buy. It sounds like this one is worth getting.
