Hello! How much recess time do your children get per day? At my school, grades K-3 get 20 minutes in the morning and an additional 20 minutes after lunch. Just looking for ideas. Thx!
Our entire school--JK to Grade 8, has 30 minutes of recess halfway through the morning, then 40 minutes after they eat at lunchtime.
Somewhere between 20-30 minutes in the morning. (No official scheduled time - we go out when we're done with reading, and stay until I'm feeling ready to go in, depending on what lesson I'm teaching next, how wiggly the kids are that day, etc). Kids have a 40 minute lunch. Recess is ~20 of that; however much time they have left after eating.
We are supposed to have 15 minutes per day but we have been told that it includes walking to and from specials and lunch. Since that doesn't leave much leeway, most of the classes don't get any actual play time. The P's office adjoins one of the playgrounds and she has been known to time classes when they are out there and shoo them away if they stay longer than a few minutes. Our room adjoins the back playground and admin very rarely comes out there. So, I set my own schedule and give my children play time whenever I deem it necessary. Sometimes it's once per day for 15-20 minutes and sometimes we go out twice. There are times when I feel I need to use plain old common sense with my children and dismiss admin rules that I feel are not in the best interests of the children.
15 minutes in the morning and about 30 minutes in the afternoon. On nicer days we do stay out longer though
They're supposed to get 15 minutes, but by the time they get out of the cafeteria, walk outside and get to the playground, it's closer to 5 to 8 minutes.
No recess here, no matter the grade level. I'm surprised (but pleasantly so) that other school systems have recess and in some cases a fair amount of it.
15 minutes in the morning for K4 to 1st grade. Everyone gets 15 minutes before lunch. They are hungrier if they play first, and also quieter in the lunchroom. They get 30 minutes to eat(that includes the time to come in from outside.)
20 minute lunch, then 25 minute recess for K-5. 6-8 have a 10 minute recess. They also get 30 minutes of recess everyday K-3 and 40 minutes 4-8. We are free to take them out for extra recess whenever we want.
15 min recess in the morning ONLY 15 min recess at lunch Teachers have to do all the duties, including cafeteria.
We have a 15 minute recess in the morning, then lunch is 45 minutes... K-2 get 25 minutes to eat and 20 minutes outside, while 3-5 get 15 minutes to eat and 30 minutes outside (since they need less time to eat).
We get 20 minutes a day and no more Ours is scheduled in the morning. They are all scheduled with the idea that there are only a few classes out at a time.
My daughter gets 15-20 minutes depending on fast they eat lunch. She has a 30 minute lunch and then they go out. If they aren't finished eating, then they choose to stay in the cafeteria to finish eating then join their class later.
