Same here. My $400 Chanel sunglasses were a long planned and budgeted purchase. I expect to have and love them for a long time. I felt a bit ridiculous spending more than my car payment on sunglasses, but nice glasses are one of the things I'm willing to spend on. They feel so much nicer.

I would still love those purple Diors though...Maybe next spring. I have an aunt who always sends me insanely generous birthday gift cards for Nordstroms.

Actually, if I'm in a position to make extravagant purchases, I'd love a Stella McCartney bag. It's so hard to find nice, stylish, high quality non leather handbags.

Nice! I wish I had someone who sent me insane amounts of Nordstrom GCs!

I'd like a few more blouses before I go back to school but we'll see if there is time!

    Cotton/poly blends

I'm a fan of cotton/poly blend clothing. T-shirts usually hold shape better (than just cotton). They do make you warmer though. I like them though, because they are so soft.

However, I bought a cotton/poly blended button-down shirt, and the material was extremely scratchy (like I've had with 100% polyester). Anyway, my question is whether that type of material will soften? I figured cotton/poly is just cotton/poly (as long as the % were roughly the same, which they were). But I'm hesitant now to buy those types of shirts online anymore, because I don't want to hassle with sending it back.

    That's all I got there...

I forgot to list my recent purchases...

Six pairs of athletic shoes (3 kids x one pair for daily and one for PE)
$200 worth of school supplies (that crap is expensive!)
Waaaay too many snacks and Gatorade to send with the girls on their uncle weekend camping trip
Last payment on family pictures, which are next weekend!
$9 worth of green beans at the farmers market (simmering now)

    I think that's it!

I tried to economize in Whole Foods (I only end up near one every few months or so) and managed to buy only one bag of stuff, but somehow still ended up spending $60.

Hopeless. I bought a $5 pistachio ice cream sandwich. Pistachio ice cream is my weakness, and vegan pistachio ice cream is not easy to come by unless I make it myself (which I never do). I also got expensive locally made tofu (so amazingly delicious), organic blackberries for my bird, and a bunch of vegan junk food nobody sells locally to me.

I think the blackberries were my only sensible purchase. It wouldn't be so bad if I'd bought actual meal ingredients. Oops.

I just found a 3-pack of Barkeepers Friend on Amazon for $10. It's great on toilets and showers. Oh, the glamorous life I lead!

 What a coincidence because before I saw your post, I was going to start a thread on extra summer spending! I started the thread, so you'll see it.

You know how many of us tend to do a little extra shopping, etc. in the summertime. But yeah, it's time to cut back here now.

I've been good at staying out of Target for a while, but I went today & spent about $45, so not too bad.

Had $9.50 in a coupon & redemptions at Ulta & got:

    - NEW L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara
    - NEW They're Real! Push-up gel eyeliner...it better be good for $24!
    - dry shampoo

I got a mini-fridge for my room at Target yesterday. Sweets was looking at getting a Keurig for his office (I'd have gotten the old one) but that will have to wait for a while.

I got a new phone yesterday! Finally. I found an almost-new pair of cotton capris and a nice cotton blouse at Goodwill; feeling good about the savings. Also got my hair cut for $7 - and she's an awesome stylist. She styles it for free, too.

A white and black shirt from Express. I haven't been in there since a college but a friend really likes the store. I also got a pair of white studs with little "gemstones" for a total of $30. Not a bad deal.

I'm a pretty tight budget right now but it was nice to treat myself with something and not have to feel guilty about overspending.

Got some Kat Von D makeup.

I like Express...used to shop there a lot more often eons ago when their clothing style seemed to be better, then there was a period when it wasn't as good, but it's been back to pretty good for a long time now. I recently got 12 tops & 3 pieces of jewelry there in the last month.

I've been doing my annual "hit up all the thrift stores" to update my wardrobe. It's awesome that I can buy 5 tops for less than $20 (some of them still have the tags on them). I splurged at one store and spent $75 on 2 pairs of work pants- it's hard to find long enough pants for me.

I have to hold off until the 28th when hubby gets paid again to go shoe shopping. Thankfully I don't start teaching until the week after, so it's not a big deal.

Recent purchases - Rubbermaid stacking containers/lids. Just visited my daughter and she has NO TUPPERWARE CLUTTER! All the lids fit all the bottoms. What a relief of a daily frustration - all my old stuff is going to the thrift store.

I've been working on finding the right size of Steve Madden boots since Nordstroms summer sale...have returned 3 pair (I'm a difficult fit..high instep makes a western cut boot hard..). Waiting on 4 th pair to come this week...Nordstrom customer service ROCKS!

    Congratulations amakaye!

I really need to buy a few new pairs of pants this week-end.

Got a great neoprene tote bag on Amazon. It is bright with dots all over it and holds a lot, but only weighs a few ounces.
