My library is having a book sale, so I bought 30 books for $5.40. The deal is you fill a bag for $5.00 plus tax. So I brought a big cloth shopping bag and filled it up!

I just ordered 2 skirts, a dress and a blazer from Talbots clearance. They have some classic interview suits there for low prices right now.

I have to brag about my bargain of the century because I am so excited! Last weekend I went to one of the local church's Octoberfest fairs. Along with all the games and raffles there was also a huge garage sale in the gym basement, and of course I had to check it out. I found a bunch of books, a complete chess set, and a set of china from the closed convent across the street. The slip listed four boxes that included approximately 8 settings and various other random pieces. I got it home and began unpacking, and unpacking, and unpacking until four boxes later I found I had purchased...a double set of service for 12! It's not complete, but I have no fewer than 20 dinner plates, teacups, saucers, dessert plates, and soup bowls! There were also 2 oval platters, 2 round platters, 2 serving bowls, 2 creamers and sugar bowls, and a gravy boat! The only thing I am really short on is salad plates. I only found 5. The best part of this grand surprise: I only paid $20 for the lot of it!!!

I bought this dress today. Not sure where I'll wear it. It was much cuter on than on the hanger. I'd passed by online as well. Cuter details in person.

My best find of the day was the pistachio cannoli and strawberry cream cake from the European bakery. Wow!

Today I purchased 4 new tires. I wasn't planning on getting them until I had a flat. I really did need them. So that's my Christmas present. And a small road trip since I'm getting new tires. Thinking Gulfport Ms for Christmas. Lots going on there.

We went to a farm auction this weekend and worked the food stand for a group that we are members of. I also spent some money on my breaks from serving. I bought:
A hand cranked corn sheller. It is has a wood frame and I am going to clean it up for the front porch.
A one-horse moldboard plow. I am going to clean it up, paint it, and put it in the big flower bed in the front. When I was cleaning it, I found the manufacturer's name on the bottom. It is a Collins model 62, made in Quincy, IL about an hour from here in the late 1800s.
Three steel wheels off an old farm implement. After painting, they are going out by the front gate.

Total spent - $30. I have my weekend projects laid out for me for the next few weeks.

I did this Sunday. I also hit Victoria's Secret since they were having BOGO on bras. I think the next big(ish) purchase will be a new Christmas tree as the lights on the top 1/3 seem to have shorted out.

I bought my first Christmas gifts tonight. Two science kits for GS. I would have bought more, but they only had two. Got them for $13 off, each. I also bought him a dartboard--the kind with real darts. Saved $3 on it.

I had spent last night searching the ads for sales. Money is tight this year, so every dollar counts.

I was super excited to find a ton of clearance organ music online. I'm taking over as the full time organist at my church in the new year, and I need to build up my repertoire of music. For less than $50, I got 12 different books!

I played both piano and organ as a child. Too hard for me. Even though I studied for 10 years, I never could understand ho to read music.

My church growing up did not have an organ. As part of the music scholarship I had in college, I needed to take lessons of some kind; I decided to do organ since I enjoyed playing the piano for church. The first time I ever touched an organ was the giant one in the chapel of the university (it's like the 3rd largest organ in the country). I was SO intimidated by all the buttons, and I was sure that I was going to break something!

I didn't keep up with it as much during student teaching and after graduation, so my pedal skills have virtually all disappeared. It's so much more difficult to find time to practice on an instrument you don't have at home, but I need to figure out how to work that into my schedule.

I took piano lessons from ages 7-17, so 10 yrs like you too Blue. I could read music, but even towards the end, I couldn't just naturally play from some new sheet music I've never seen before with the right tempo just like that. I'd have to practice to get it right.

There was even time during the piano lessons that I wanted to start lessons for a 2nd instrument, but that didn't end uphappening. It would have probably been the flute...maybe the violin.

I just bought myself an iPad.

I have a desktop PC, a laptop PC, a Kindle Fire, and an iPod Touch. Then I got an iPad at work, and I'm spoiled. My desktop is getting old, so I think I'd rather have an iPad than another desktop computer.

I ordered a refurbished one from the Apple store. I got a 32GB one for $30 less than a new 16GB one. I've had good luck with refurbished stuff before, so I'm sure I'll be pleased.

What model did you get, Ima? I have money from an incentive program from my health insurance, and I'm thinking of splurging on an iPad, but I don't know what kind to even look at.

I have the black one at work, so I bought the white one for myself. I share the one at work with my grade-level partner.
