I splurged on myself this week. I bought a new cocktail dress, a black shrug, new wedge heel sandals, and got a manicure. Sweets and I went to a fundraising dinner last night and I needed to dress up.
I bought some beautiful papyrus greeting cards at Target; the prices were a bit outrageous for a card but I just loved them and I know the recipients will, also. I actually picked out one with the intention of framing it.
A new pillow--the middle of mine was past the point where "fluffing" could help. I grow to love my pillows and hate to give them up!
I bought a new handbag today. I'm not too sure about the color (camel) as I usually go for dark colors. It was on sale for 15% off and they forgot to mark it up (an extra $40 -- thank goodness I looked at the prices on all of the purses), so I had to buy it, lol. I looked online and it does come in a darker brown color but I will have to pay regular price -- $238 ($50 more)... What to do, what to do?!
I bought my first ever Coach handbag not too long ago. It was one of the lower priced ones to begin with. Macy's had them on sale for 30% off, plus, if you purchased their American Heart Association pin for $2 you got an additional 20% off, and I had a "no exclusions" coupon for yet another 30% off. On top of all that, I had a gift card with $17 I had to use up, and couldn't find anything else I needed, so with all that, I wound up with an amazing handbag for $50 total.
Wow! I bought my first Coach bag just over a year ago; I'd been looking forever and finally decided that I was (am) worth it. Last summer, I treated myself to a Coach wallet which I absolutely love--it has everything exactly where I want it.
MrsC, I finally decided that I was worth more than cheap handbags that fell apart in under a year. That $50 I spent gave me a handbag that will last me 4 or 5 years, at least. In that time, I'd go through at least 4 or 5 $20 handbags that fall apart in less than a year. I figure this way, I have a great bag, and I'll actually spend less money in the long run, which is far better for my bank balance .
I would definitely buy another Coach bag. I got mine at the outlet store for $129 and am still using it after 5 years.
In the spirit of getting things done for the upcoming baby arrival this weekend, we got our stroller tonight. I've wanted a Bugaboo stroller for... forever. Well, since we were dating and I first spotted them on a trip to NYC. They are outrageously expensive, but it's pretty much the only 'thing' for the baby that I wanted an upper end brand for. So last night I got on Craigslist and started searching-maybe I could find one for less. Jackpot! I found one for $200, including all the parts in the color I wanted, in great condition. This is about $1000 less than the stroller new, and we figured we'd spend about that much on a mid-level brand anyhow. So we went tonight and got it! The seller was super nice and now I have my stroller. Now if I just hadn't seen that Kate Spade diaper bag at the mall today.... wonder if there's one of those on Craigslist.....?
Thanks Jem. So far I'm enjoying my new wheels. It's great that you were able to find the stroller you wanted at such a great savings.
Julia got a bunch of gift cards for her birthday, so yesterday we went to the mall. At Aeropostale, I got the kids and me each a hooded sweatshirt... all 4 came to $50 plus tax. (Peter has more than enough of them!!) Julia also got 2 T shirts for her $20 gift card.
I just bought a new car..it was def. time. I put 130,000 miles on my little Kia. I got a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman S All 4 (awd) (It's the newer 4 door Mini) It is super cute and I love it!
I was out picking up a couple of things at one of the local discount stores. On a large rack of hoodies, I found one from the school will be going to next year!
A few minutes ago the UPS man came with an order of food items...I usually buy these products elsewhere online but went direct from the maker last week. Anyway, I'm super pleased because they surprised me with a full-size sample of each of their products! Not an exciting one, but there you go...my recent purchase!
Tonight it was food for my baby's upcoming Birthday party. Parties add up $$$$! Decorations/bows/garland/tulle/picture frames...it just doesn't end but I bargain shop and am very frugal so I'm strict on what I buy. I'm doing a Butterfly theme and the colors are pink and green, centered around the green Princess Tiana cake. My baby will wear a pink tutu. Oh and I got lucky since it's Easter they have these Butterfly Cakes (shaped like Butterflies) so I bought those.
Cakes shaped like butterflies?? How cute! The only thing I have bought recently was a new washing machine. It's not a fancy one but it's much better than my old one. We even put down new flooring in the laundry room and will paint the walls soon. There goes my spring break LOL
Went crazy today and ordered some new dresses for work from ModCloth. I am so stoked. I wish they were here already... My friend's brother is now trying to talk me into purchasing a hearse that he has. Hmmm...
Yes! His neighbors have been complaining about it being in his driveway for ages. Apparently it "creeps them out". A bit ridiculous if you ask me. Anyway, he knows that I'm interested in mortuary science so he connected the dots in his head. Is it crazy that i'm tempted? Though I don't know what in the world I would do with it... maybe drive around and scare the neighborhood kids?
i could get super creepy and write something like this on it! http://www.jokespalace.com/wp-content/uploads/free-candy.jpg
Every October, charge admission & have a whole setup w/ a realistic corpse rising from the coffin from it.
I just finished reading a book (pretty much true story. It was a story about a women living through the early 1900s, written by her granddaughter.) Anyways, the women was working for a one room school and bought a hearse to drive the kids to and from school. She even wrote school bus on the side so that people knew it wasn't used as a hearse anymore. Sooooooo.... a school bus?
