A position opened up at my area middle school. This is my top choice school of where I want to work. It is also for my favorte grade, 6th!!

Today I drove down there to drop off my resume, unfortunately the Principal wasnt there so I just left my resume.

Should I email the principal tomorrow to make sure he received my application? What should I do next? I really really want this job. I need to do whatever I can do to stand out.

Any advice, suggestions, prayers, positive thoughts would be appreciated. (Since I have received no calls this summer and is starting to look like its back to subbbing. When will I have my own classroom? :( )

I would either call or email the P to make sure he got your application. :) Good luck!

    Hillsborough County here in florida.
I should of added that other than substitute teaching I have yet to have my own classroom. So that makes me feel like no one is going to look at my resume because I have no experience. How am I suppose to get experience if you won't hire me? I don't know if I should :( or :)

I know the feeling! I finished school over there and still hold a Florida credential, but luckily I haven't needed to go back over there because I'm not sure I could with the job market!

I'm in your area and know how hard it is right now. I just went on an interview for a fifth grade position where I was told 114 applicants had applied but they were only interviewing 25 people. Sending good vibes your way.

Good luck! I would also e-mail him (and attach another copy of your cover letter and resume) to make sure they got it.

Lots of brand new teachers are hired. Just make yourself stand out! Our district had about 1/4 of its new hires that were brand new teachers.:) In my previous district, brand new teachers also made up a good percentage of the work force hired.

Good luck FlGirl! Don't count out your experience in subbing just because it is not your own classroom. Subbing is still teaching experience! Sending positive thoughts your way.

Subbing is experience! I did three years of it while I was in grad school and it was much more useful to me than student teaching. You learn so much from subbing. Play it up and you will knock their socks off. :)

Just be yourself . . . be excited, show your willingness to be involved and smile! Since this sounds like your dream school you probably know a lot of the ins and outs of the school, but maybe read through the school mission statement before you leave! Good luck!

It went really well. That was the first interview where I walked out and felt like I nailed it.
They asked me a lot of questions that I had already seen on the interview question threads. That really helped me to be prepared. So I want to thank to everyone here.
Just crossing my fingers now. :) They said they would know by the end of the week.

That's awesome! Now get those thank you notes out. I remember reading that less than 1% of people send a thank you. It's another chance to remind them briefly how perfect you are for the position.
