I really want a job at a particular school. This school is very small and a charter school. They NEVER have openings because nobody ever leaves.

Do you think I should still send a cover letter and a resume? This is my dream job. The pay's not anything spectacular, but the environment is great.

Send a cover and letter...and then send the same package everywhere within a reasonable on muting distance...don't pin all your hopes on ONE school. Good luck.

Oh, I definitely don't have my hopes pinned on one school. This is a very long shot.

I agree; send it anyway! There could be an unexpected opening.

Definitely send the cover letter and resume just in case. You never know what will happen.

    You have nothing to lose.

For what it's worth, over the years I've turned down a number of jobs well before they were posted.

FWIW, I sent a resume and app as a long shot to an amazing independent school last year and turns out we were a great match for each other. The head of school said, "Your cover letter really spoke to me." I had been using that letter for awhile and never had any comment before. Crazily, it was the only app I sent out because I wasn't sure where dh's job would lead us. I got LTS position that has turned permanent. I'm happier than I've ever been. So you never know!!! Go for it!

Anything can happen. I'm new to the area I moved to and on a whim I sent an inquiry to a school near me turns out they're about to start looking next week and I'm already on their radar. You don't know if you don't try. Good Luck! :)
