Ok here we go...What kind of tree do you have and why? How do you decorate it? Same stuff every year? Themes? How many trees? Does anyone help you? We have never had a real tree and are considering it this year so I need advice and experiences!!!

Use to have a real tree until the sap left a sticky mess on our carpet and when we stepped on a needle in July!!! OUCH!!!! We have had an artificial for years........but I do miss the smell of the real thing. I decorate it in cranberry and white colors. I hang cranberry beads on it. I have lots of homemade ornaments that I hang on it.......and of course, many teacher ornaments as well. I have an angel on the top. I collect angels and snowmen, so I have plenty of those on my tree as well. I use white lights on it. My dad has a tree farm that the rest of the family goes to and cuts their own, but I don't think I will go back to the real thing. This way I can keep my tree up until Epiphany without worrying about it dropping needles all over.

Is your tree big? Is it a dark green or the lighter color of green like the Balsam? Does it have short or long needles?

it is dark green........and I believe it is about 71/2 ft. tall. It has shorter needles. Actually, most people don't realize it is artificial, they are surprised it is when I tell them. The other nice thing about it is it always looks beautiful........no bare spots!! LOL!!

I don't have a tree!!! WE have had the 6ft. artificial and last year we had a Charlie Brown tree!!! yep, no needles! It was fun and the kids sure laughed. This year my husband wants a real one and I am a bit nervous about it, with the mess and all. We have wood floors in the living room so that might help! As for decorating, I like the old fashioned look of many different ornaments(no theme) and lots of clear icicles and muti colored lights. This year I will stay away from glass ornaments with the baby around. I want it to be just for him!!!

do your cats bother the tree? I prefer old fashioned as well......mine really isn't a theme........except the main colors. This year I was thinking of switching to colored lights. I love the colors.........maybe I'll surprise my kids and switch this year. Yes, I will do that...........they will love it!!! :) When do you put it up......I usually get ours up the first weekend in December.

I would like to put it up the day after Thanksgiving...I like looking at pictures of how the trees looked in the "olden" days ... homemade ornaments and my mom always set santa cut outs way inside the branches...they had that velvet stuff on them, ya know kinda fuzzy? The cats have always been very good about trees, except Redman will bat at the bottom ornaments and has broken some in the past. We have never had a real tree with the cats...so I don't know...I bet they will try to climb it!

Oh, you could use redman as the topper!!! I can just picture it!!!! I remember our tree when I grew up..........we had those huge bulb lights on them that got so hot, you were sure the tree would catch on fire!!!! They didn't have indoor vs outdoor lights.......I think they were all meant for outdoor use.

As for Christmas trees, we are so lazy now. We have an artificial tree - about four or five feet tall. The best thing is that it is pre-lit. My husband is so happy about that!

I string gold beads on the tree and then we put on the ornaments. I collect Santa stuff, so a lot of them are Santa ornaments. Plus, we have a few special memorable ones - baby's first Christmas, an ornament for the year that we moved into our house, stuff like that.

Oh, yes, I remember those huge Christmas bulbs. We used to have special ornaments that we would place above those bulbs. They had a metal piece inside that would spin like crazy from the heat rising off of those huge bulbs. They were my favorite ornaments. I recently found some replicas at a Christmas mall shop. Of course, I got a set of those!

    That is funnnnnnnnny!!!!!!

Grammy - you just need to pick a more controversial subject. Something that upsets teachers - to the point of making them drink and get over-philosophical.

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
    I'll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You've got a friend in me
(you've got a friend in me)

Ben, you're always running here and there
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
    If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's one thing you should know
You've got a place to go
(you've got a place to go)

I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
I used to say "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
Ben, most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
    I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
    (a friend) Like Ben
    (like Ben) Like Ben
