Does anyone use this? Thoughts? Feelings?
Wonders from the Treasures series?

Nope. It is a McGraw-Hill reading program. I think it is fairly new.

I think that is the same series--it is called Treasures? Full of social studies and science articles?
I have used it in the past but find it can be too difficult for my ELLs. I used it more with my higher kids when they were finished with their work.
No, it is not Treasures. It is Reading Wonders. I've seen Treasures and this is definitely not it.
I just found out this morning that I (and a few others) are piloting it for our intermediate grades. I have training on it next Wednesday and it's supposed to be very common-core aligned and lots of focus on close-reading from what I've seen.
We were 'trained' but it was terrible. I have no idea how to use it. We have 1:1 netbooks, so we only ordered the online version. So it makes it very difficult for me to plan- too much clicking, too many windows. Since I'm unfamiliar with it, I'd do better with a physical copy.
It is 100% CCSS aligned. I knew that much.
My school has adopted this as well. I'm interested to see how it works. 3rd grade for me, so I'm going to have to make sure I know what's up with this.

Newteach31, I'm third as well so we'll have to share tips/ideas!
I'm new to using it for third grade this year as well! I wonder if there's somewhere where we could easily set up a place to discuss and share tips throughout the year...
I just got my hard copy teacher books today. I'm like you and need an actual physical copy to look over and plan things out. I'm hoping to get some of that done while I'm at the airport this weekend, so I'll let you know what I figure out!

After one school year, how are you guys feeling about this series?? I feel like I'm reinventing the wheel to make it work. Any suggestions?
Um, I left that school after a few weeks. I really couldn't attest to it.

My district just recently purchased it. So far, I am not terribly impressed. Yes, it is CC aligned but I think it is not as good quality as our previous anthology. I felt like our previous one had some solid pieces of children's lit included (i.e. tradebooks and stories by award winning authors), even if some of the non-fiction was a bit outdated. The stories were longer and had enough depth to spend a few days reading and discussing. The stories in Wonders (so far) seem to be pretty short and IMO are not of the same quality. I actually feel there is less opportunity for close reading than previously because there is so little depth to the stories.
