Is there any benefit (might be small) to having a reading endorsement as a middle school teacher?

Well, if you are in Ohio you could get moved to third grade as 3rd grade teachers need special qualifications due to the third grade reading guarantee.
Many students struggle with reading, even in MS and beyond, so it could help with your content teaching.

I'd love to get one, but there's no monetary benefit where I'm at, and it can be quite expensive to get depending on your state.

But, if you're looking for an impact on your teaching practices, I'd say a reading endorsement could be helpful to any teacher. The vocabulary, word attack, and comprehension strategies kids need to know are applied in all levels and subjects.
