I just got moved from Kinder to first grade yesterday and am in a crunch to get things done. I can't find any of my first grade stuff at the moment. Wondering if anyone has a record sheet for the read/write around the room center. You know, where the kids have a clipboard and find a word in the room for each letter of the alphabet. Would hate to redo it if someone has it handy. Thanks so much.
Check out Jessica Meacham's site http://www.jmeacham.com. She has a lot of kinder and first grade material including a Read/Write the Room form that is great! It's right online for you to open and print. Hope this helps and good luck!
thanks for the site..do you happen to remember waht section it was under, I couldn't find it. Thanks again!
http://www.jmeacham.com/docs/literacy.centers/reading/read.around.the.room.pdf It wasn't too easy to find but here it is. Hope this might help.
The link posted will take you to a document where she explains how she uses this as part of a center. This link http://www.jmeacham.com/centers/writing.options/writing/writing.htm takes you to her page that has a downloadable version of the form (pdf or word document). Hope this helps!
I don't use a record sheet, but I do a sheet related to the theme we are studying. For example, if we are studying birds, one day I might put out a sheet with BLUEBIRD spelled down the page. The students need to find (and write) words that begin with those letters. The kids seem to like it. If you PM me I can email you an example.
Sorry, I don't know why the link doesn't work. I just used the "Insert Hyperlink" tool on the post reply page and assumed it worked (but didn't actually try it). MissB, thanks for letting everyone know to cut and paste the link
