In 3rd grade this year, we did Doll People (big hit -- we are an all-girls class), A Grain of Rice (ties in with beginning multiplication), Catwings. I forgot what else, maybe I'll post in later if I remember. I am only an aide and often doing other things out of the room while the teacher reads aloud.

I'd say 4-6, but check with parents first. Some people are very much against HP books because of the sorcery.

    For grades 3-4
Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Ramona series, Encyclopedia Brown, Chronicles of Narnia

I also read There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom to my 5th graders this year and they loved it.
