I liked the suggestions for fourth grade read alouds. Does anyone have some good suggestions for third grade? I'm just about finished reading "The Meanest Doll in the World" and the kids have loved it.
I read many of the fourth grade selections to my kiddos in third grade. How To Eat Fried Worms, City of Ember, Holes, Hank Zipzer: Day of the Iguana, any of the Ramona Quimby books are great too.
I'm not sure what the 4th grade list looked like, but my second graders really like Sideway Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. It's fun and the kids really have to visualize!
I'm currently reading "The Chocolate Touch" to my class and they absolutely love it. When we finish reading that, we're taking a vote on what our next read aloud will be: either "How to be Cool in Third Grade" or "I Was a Third Grade Spy."
The first doll story is "The Doll People" which I read to my second graders. I also read them "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." We are currently reading "Stuart Little." I also like "James and the Giant Peach" but there are some spots where you may have to change the words a little. In first grade we read "Charlotte's Web" and some Ramona Quimby books.
