I'm just curious as to what you get paid for doing work outside of contract (chaperone dances, concerts, development meetings after school etc...). I have a sneaky suspicion that we are underpaid!

The only extra we have right now is after school tutoring. We get $25 an hour. It will go up to $30 next year.

$32 for some things, and $18 for some. I can't remember what the criteria is for the two.

People get paid for that? Neither school I've worked for paid extra for overtime-type stuff, and we were required to stay late all the time...

As far as extra duties, we have a separate salary schedule that tells what you make for that, anything from coaching to sponsoring a class. Class sponsors are the ones who are expected to chaperone extra stuff. If we are asked to come in on an extra day, this happens often in the summer right after school or just before it starts, then we get a day's salary. Otherwise, for meetings and what not that happens after school, we don't get paid any extra for that.

We don't get paid for things like that. It's all volunteer. Those of us who do volunteer do get to "look good" to parents and administration, though. So that's a bonus, I guess :)

I just assume that those things come with being a teacher. If we all punched clocks imagine how much more work that would be for school district accountants with so many people making so much more or less money.

We don't get paid for it, but if we do like 100 hours of extra-cur stuff we can earn an EDO. Then 200 for a second EDO, up to a maximum of 4 a year.

And actually, all of that EXTRA stuff is written into the Education Act, in Saskatchewan, so we are actually contractually required to participate in Extra Cur activities.

for writing curriculum, or home schooling - we are paid $32 an hour.

our high school football coach earns almost 10,000.

that is a big priority here.

The only extra pay we get is if we coach, lead yearbook, head of student council, or Title I coordinator. We don't get paid for anything else extra that we are required to do. Our administration is great, however, making sure that we aren't expected to work too much over our scheduled work hours (15-45 minutes max). I love my district!!

Freebers, all of it. Unless you're a boys' coach, that is.

We have extended duty responsibilities which are paid at our hourly rate (salary plus benefits divided by the contract specified hours per week). Not all schools offer the same extended duty options. By contract we are also required to work 2 evenings during the year (evening conferences & back-to-school night). If the administrator is going to require us to be at other evening events, we have to be paid our hourly rate. We have lots of evening things, but we come voluntarily for those.
