I'm spending the day today preparing a bug-out bag.

I've always had an emergency kit for the car, and I'm set for two weeks stranded at home. Now I'm making a 72-hour evacuation bag.

I feel very much like McGyver.

I've been 2 mos ahead on my rent for a long time now. I want to eventually be ahead 4-6 mos.

It's a few min after midnight, but I feel like watching some TV. I just finished a grad class test, which I got an A on by the way, & it's time to relax a little again.

I actually either have a test, paper, or some kind of assignment due the next 4 Suns & Fri in a row!:dizzy:

Observation tomorrow afternoon. A cold began to set up shop this afternoon. I sure hope it is gone in the morning. I don't need this right now.

It doesn't even feel like the day before TG...probably because I've been really busy all week & will continue to be until Sun night. :dizzy:

So it's the day before TG and my car is getting repair. My DH shows up with a newer model of my car and it's enticing me to trade. While it's tempting, I only have 26 payments before my car is paid off. Hmmmmm....

I need to try to get as much school work done as possible today, so I can have a somewhat relaxing TG tomorrow!

Teachling, go ahead...it can be your early Christmas gift!

Got my snow tires on today! It's snowing pretty bad right now so not going out again until tomorrow to go to dinner. We're putting up our (fake) tree today and then Friday we'll decorate it. I can't believe it's almost time for Christmas!! Oh, and I found out I'm going to be an auntie again :D

    Thank you ! I hope it's a girl
We got the tree from the garage last night because we knew it was going to snow today and I was NOT about to drag bags of tree branches from the garage to the house in the snow LOL The naked tree will be put up but sit there until Friday when we have time to decorate it. We usually have my in laws over after Thanksgiving dinner to help decorate the tree but I like to put my ornaments on a specific way so I'm glad we're not getting any help this year!!

    Some random thoughts...
    • I have not been on here in what seems like forever. (**waves hello**)
    • What are some activities to do with a person who has dementia to help with memory? The care plan I have only says "reading newspapers, talking about news stories".... that gets boring when you sit there doing it for THREE hours!
    • I am trying to motivate High School seniors who are in danger of being 5th year seniors to do their work so they can graduate! I am interning in the school district.... it is mind boggling that they aren't stepping up and all I get is shrugs.
    • Baby is moving around like crazy!. I need a nap

I was in bed watching television by 7:15 tonight.

My 86-yo father actually has dementia (last time I posted about him, I had said Alzheimer's, but it's actually dementia. My mom is his sole caretaker & the brief activities she has to exercise his mind are:

    - she gives him a small stack of playing cards & has him match up the hearts or the same #s, or the kings, etc.

    - She has these blocks like Jenga that he puts together.

I know she has a few more things too. Months ago, she used to do easy crosswords w/ him, but I don't think she does this activity w/ him anymore. You can Google terms such as "mind activities for those with dementia" & similar terms.

Ima, I have plenty of work I can give you! I need a 1-pg lesson plan for a 4-yr old w/ a cochlear implant by this wknd & then a 5-10 pg term paper about hearing disorders in children! ;)

5:30am is way to early to be up on a Sunday! But my genius self picked up an early home health visit. Today would be a good day to stay curled up in bed at 9 degrees with a feels like of negative 10 right now. *yawn*

Well, I just emailed 5 pals I haven't seen in at least a year. I was never close friends w/ them. For some reason, I'm not FB friends w/ any of them. This isn't the 1st time I've contacted them out of the blue to say hi. I'm pretty sure if I didn't contact them, I'd never hear from them anymore.

I think I've always heard back from them in the past, so let's see what happens now.

Had to wake up at 4:30 this morning! Glad I don't have to do that often. In fact, I've been up around 5am a few times this week. I usually wake up around 7:00/7:15.

Got the news of the 1st death of the year...this guy, probably not much older than me (so still pretty young in general). He had diabetes, so it was due to those complications.

I didn't know him personally, but he went to my church.

It's a lazy, rainy Sunday morning & my BF just made us a breakfast one can only make on a free morning! It's a good thing we only eat breakfast like this occasionally.

    - scrambled eggs w/ sundried tomatoes, cheese, & green onions
    - croissants w/ butter & jam
    - turkey bacon & sausages
    - orange juice

GRRR! Last week I asked about taking an upcoming date as a personal day and got the OK, just fill out the form. Then yesterday morning I find an ooops! email. Ooops! as in "Sorry to have to admit this but someone else has already requested that day as a personal day." District policy is one personal day per building per day. In the meantime I bought a plane ticket to go see my sister that I can't refund. I've emailed my P to see if she can make an exception, but I may be out the money.

She emailed me back and told me to plan on taking the trip, she'd find a way to work it out. I hate lying about stuff because I always feel like I am looking over my shoulder. Karma has a way of finding me. Honesty worked in my favor this time! :D

Just looked at the BADGER exam scoring info online. $13 an hour. Taxable, I'm sure. Seems like a lot of work for not much $... Not to mention the controversy associated with the current 'batch' of state tests.

I did hear that Pearson advertised on Craigslist for PARCC assessors...paying less than the BADGER.
I'm sure they were lucky to get you, Ms I, since you do have educational experience. :thumb: Sadly, I don't think we'll be able to say that of all those who are chosen as test scorers. :(

It could be a bit of a resume enhancement if you want to get back into education :thumb: and if you're excited, good for you! Enjoy!

I applied to be a scorer once and was accepted but I found out the testing center was not even located in my county so I declined. I would have spent too much in gas for it to be worth it or I would have done it.
