    Hi Becky! We've missed you!

We have a Professional Development day on Friday. The morning will be packed solid with health and safety trainings, but our principal is trying to let us have most of the afternoon to work in our classrooms. Thursday afternoon is our annual Terry Fox Run, so it's going to be a quick week.

If I had a nickel for every time someone called Jeannie 'Jenny', or a form of it...

Jeannie's doing really well in 7th grade this year. There have been some really positive changes at her school, which makes me happy.;)

As for me, I'm still wondering what to do with myself.

Ha! I wish! We have to have our kids assessed in: AIMSWeb (Fluency, Maze, MCOMP, MCAP), Reading 3D (TRCs), and DIBELS Next by Friday. AIMSWeb is done. I have 6 TRCs and 0 DIBELS done. I have 26 kids and I've been working on the TRCs for a week and a half now. My P actually came in to do an observation last week. I normally get them started on an assignment and begin pulling kids. I had to walk around and monitor/conference with them since she was in the room. It was so frustrating! She knows we have to have this done by Friday!!!!!

I'm going to need those buns and donut sent down here so I can taste them!! And TeacherNY, I am thinking about going to bed as well. I'm not ready for work tomorrow.

When I taught 2nd, we were given subs for one full day to get testing like that out of the way. I couldn't imagine trying to get all that done in a weeks time.

Our window was 3 weeks. I knocked out the group testing and the AIMSweb fluency stuff quick. TRCs take forever. They can literally take an hour or more per child.

Yesterday after work at 3:00, I was at the grocery store, getting ready to go home & my car wouldn't start. It was the battery. I quickly was able to get it replaced/fixed with the help of my parents. Within an hour, I was back at home! :)

Thank God I wasn't still at my workplace's parking lot OR in the morning getting ready to leave for work.

    Glad things worked Ms. I.

Are there anymore cinnamon rolls coming out of the oven soon? Can I have one? I'll trade for some banana bread.

This week has been fairly steady with the sub jobs (finally) but I have nothing lined up for next week. sigh

Sorry about your car, Ms.I!! That happened to me a few months ago in my work parking lot! I was leaving for the day and my car wouldn't start. I called my hubby and he came and brought his jumper thingy so it started up then we went to the store to get a new battery. Also, that was the day the library closed early so I couldn't go and get all the books I had on hold! I hate when these things happen!

Thanks TeacherNY! I've always kept jumper cables in my car, but I had just left from visiting my parents at the time & was at a nearby grocery store, so they helped me nevertheless. AutoZone was almost around the corner.

My apt complex had a planned power outage from Sat 10:30p to Sun 6:12a. That wasn't bad since I was asleep most of that time. They said worst case scenario would have been Sat 9p - Sun 10a.

Changing the subject, I want to get a new black purse.

I'm an SLP, so technically, the P isn't my boss. One of the directors is & he/she (to protect anonymity) will be gone in about 2 weeks. This is the first I'm hearing about it...can't say I'm sad to hear it!

My mother is being ridiculous. My dad has some of the same symptoms she was showing when she was diagnosed with cancer, and she's blaming me and my "gay lifestyle" for the reason that they have cancer, because she thinks "god" is punishing them for my sins. I'm not even phased by it anymore. I just chalk it up to insanity and ignore 90% of what she says, and try to be as pleasant as possible. She's undergoing chemo today, so I wished her well.

As for work today, things have been going very well! The changes I've made to my procedures have been working out!

    Great, Ms. I !

Glad you had a good day, Peregrin. Keep your chin up! You know what they say...you can't choose your family...if I told you some stories about a particular person in my family you'd wouldn't believe someone could so horrible.

I had a good day too although I'm exhausted. This week seemed to drag. I did get an unexpected compliment from the VP today and what she said almost brought tears to my eyes. That stuff makes it all worth it.

I am guessing Ms. I has heard of Hurricane Sandy, but was just sharing something from her life.

Good luck with the black purse hunt, Ms. I!

Missy, that post of mine that czacza was replying to was an old post & yes, I've heard of Hurricane Sandy. I wish all those affected many blessings.

And regarding me finding a black purse, I got this. It's not black, but I loved the shape/style so much, I couldn 't refuse. I wish it had been on sale:

Nice bag, Ms I. :thumb: are you using it as a daily handbag? I tend to change my bags seasonally.:)

Thanks for understanding about the hurricane aftermath. It's hard not to be affected by it in my area. Between 130,000 to 200,000 on Long Island alone without power. I have friends whose houses were literally washed away.

I got my People magazine in the mail yesterday and their main story (and front page) was about the hurricane and its aftermath. It was so sad to read about the people that lost their lives in the hurricane and those that are still struggling.

Oh! That really s$%@s toilet water, Peregrin. I am so sorry to hear this. While I am not in the same situation as you, I am in the middle of my own family/religion judgemental drama. Very stressful. I feel for you.

On an unrelated note, putting together a registry is like writing a list for Santa! You don't know if you'll get all you ask for, but it is fun to dream.

Oh, that's horrible Peregrin! My mother thinks that is how God works as well. :(

    Okay, have to say:

I HATE THE BLUE MAN GROUP. I DON'T GET THE APPEAL WHATSOEVER. I CANNOT EVEN WATCH WITHOUT FINDING MYSELF GETTING ANGRY, WHICH I REALIZE IS IRRATIONAL.
