Is there an effective technique you use to quiet your students when you need to regain their attention?

I teach Spanish, so I thought this might be cute:

I will say: "The teacher said" (2x)
The students will respond with "silence"

I teach Spanish, so it will sound like this:

    T: La maestra dijo (2x)
    S: !!SILENCIO!!

Of course, I would explain this on the first day and do a few dry runs.

Anyone think this is too corny?

I think that's great! Remember to practice frequently the first few weeks.

Good idea! I might have to use that in my Spanish classes.
Just saying "silencio" hasn't been working.
