I've found out about a job that could very well be opening up soon in a district that I'm interested in. The position hasn't been posted yet, but I've been told to be proactive and apply early. I'm planning on contacting HR and the principal, but how do I go about doing it? In other words, how do I say, "I hear that there might be a position opening soon," without saying that?

It's been five years since I've job hunted, so I'm a little rusty.

Just send your package. Advice has been given many times on these forums to send to distrcts regardless of posted openings. Your wording could say something along the lines of 'in anticipation of possible openings for the 2012-2013 school year'.

"I would be interested in any openings in...."

That way, you're under consideration for a job that opens up next week as well.

I got my job by applying when there was no opening listed.
