I am never sure what to ask at the end of an interview? I usually look up the school on the state website but what are some typical questions yall ask at the end of your interview?

What extracurricular activities are there > ( so that you can join in and help out:D )

How will I be evaluated? How often?

I usually ask about the mentoring program (I've usually already found out info on the website, but often it isn't there)

Particular curriculums/methodologies... this often isn't specified, but it's something I really want to find out about... or more specific questions (I know you use the ___ program, which I know about but haven't used. What kind of training will be provided?)

Ok this is lame but I usually ask when they will make their decision. Most recently I also asked how long the rest of the grade level team had been there.

I'll ask what school-wide goals the school will be focussing on next year, to describe parental involvement, to tell me strengths of the school, what curriculum is used for certain subject...

well not all of them every time, but I have asked all of them at some point.

I always ask if they'll let me know either way... they always do, but often don't!

but, come to think of it, it sounds like i'm doubting myself when I ask it that way... so what's a better way to word it?

I got these questions from this site, somewhere...I can't find the link, but maybe someone else can.

    1. What is your teacher turnover like? Can you tell me why those people left?

    2. Can you give me some background as to what my team members are like?

    3. What are the average class sizes usually like?

    4. What kind of resources can the school/school system offer me since it's my first year in the system?

    5. What makes this school stand out from the others in the area?

    6. What is your policy regarding lesson planning - would I need to keep records in my room, or turn them in to you?

    7. What is the student population like?

    8. Can I see the classroom that I would be teaching in?

Some of these might have already been discussed in your interview. Remember, you are interviewing them to see if this is the right job for you, not just vice versa.

I noticed on the two interviews I went on yesterday that they really liked these questions:

Why do you like working for xyz school and abc district?

What is this school's/districts greatest challenge and what is being done to overcome that challenge?

Do I have a classroom? (w/ class size a lot of teachers are expected to "float". I did my first year! It was HORRIBLE!)

On Cyndi's note... if you're interviewing at the school (as opposed to at the administration building), ask them if you can see your classroom. :)

I was reading in the Interview post that some interviewer asked the interviewee what was her favorite Disney character and why... do you think you could turn it around and ask that at the end of the interview?? It would be so funny!! I don't think I would have the guts!

I believe I asked about the mobility rate of the students. If I could have a tour of the school or look around myself. When I could expect to hear from them.

I know they are going for creativity and outside the box thinking but those kind of questions are dumb. Man I would love to turn that one around on the interview team!!!!

I always ask about the principal's philosophy of education, what type of a manager are they (I had one principal who checked lesson plans ever week and one who checked them 2 times the entire year), what they thing the best thing about the school is and the worst, and what the culture of the school is like (in other words do people get along is there a lot of infighting between teachers or grades, etc).
