Is a component of your teacher evaluation whether or not you are a member of professional organizations? Thanks!
I believe that falls under the Domain 4 category with Prof Development/Professionalism in our eval system. Usually though it won't get held against you---they just wouldn't put a rating for that one. So it's one there, but it isn't necessary going to hurt your eval. if your not. It just looks good if you are as far as I understand.
No. But, believe it or not, a component of the School District of Philadelphia principals' evaluation is the percentage of the students who eat the free breakfast daily. (The higher the percentage, the higher the rating for the principal.) :dunno:
being a member is one of many ways to show that you are committed to growth of the profession in our rubric. You could achieve the same thing different ways though.
Their is a professional growth and leadership section, but belonging to a professional organization is not the only option.
It's not Marshall. It's Danielson. I could be wrong about it, but I believe it could fall into one of the domain 4s.
We have Danielson and it could be considered as part of our evaluation. However, you don't have to belong to an organization; there are other ways to receive proficient and excellent for this standard.
We have Danielson as well. However, we're not required to belong to organizations. I went to a few PD days this year and those counted.
It is not on our current one, but it is on the new one, which is piloting next year. I'm on the evaluation committee. We've been looking at the new models.
I meant for MY state, that's how they view it. You need to show growth within the profession. One way to show it to them is to be a member of a professional organization.
We had the district meeting about this today. It's job-imbedded professional learning. It could be a traditional PD workshop, a PLC, or some other way to prove that you are staying current in your field and moving toward being the best teacher.
You're right. We use Danielson too. Membership is not required for high marks on Domain 4, but it could be used as evidence.
