As most of you know, there is a 4th grade position available at the school I tutored at this past year. The VP has already forwarded my cover letter and resume to the new P, and a teacher I worked with there has a meeting with her tomorrow morning and she has already dropped my name. My question is, would it be overkill to go up to the school in hopes of introducing myself and letting her know my interest in the position? I wouldn't drop off my resume or cover letter, just my brochure.

I say go for it. What will it hurt you already have a job offer on the table. Walk in there like you own the place!! Might even drop you have a job offer some where else but would love to work at that school.

I agree with JaimeMarie. For all the P knows, you have no idea the VP or the other teacher has said anything to him/her. It can't hurt! Good luck!

You have nothing to lose, since you already have an offer on the table.

    Go for it!!

Wow, stg, can you imagine having two offers? How cool would that be? Go ahead and drop by, you have nothing to lose...(do you have any thoughts on which job you would take if you do end up with two offers?) Nice position to be in!!;)

Well, I dropped by...and met the new P!!! She seems really nice. She said she had already received my resume from a forward (from the AP). I gave her my brochusre to follow up on. Now, hopefully she'll tell my contact when she meets w/ her tomorrow that I stopped by today.

cza~I will take the 4th grade position b/c its alot closer to home (10 min vs. 1 hr) and pays $10k more.

How long do you have to play around with this? Do you have to sign on the other job soon?

That's great that she was there and you had an opportunity to personally give her the brochure. Fingers crossed!

I haven't signed anything for long distance school yet and with the holiday coming up...it'll give me some time for this closer position.

I think you did the right thing. I am SO glad the princiapl was receptive. She knows you are a go getter. She knows the staff WANT you onboard. She knows that the VP sent the resume and therefore endorsed you. So, I would say... YOU GO GIRL! Now, hopefully, SHE won't go on vacation and you can sew this one up. Then, you can kindly call the other principal back and kindly say, that you have decided that it would not be in your best interest to drive such a distance and be that far from your child. I don't think I would tell her that you got a better offer. I would blame it on the distance. You never know when you might need that principal. Education is a very small world. Never burn any bridges that you might need in the future. BEST of LUCK! :agreed:

I have one of the school board members as a friend on facebook (due to a volunteer opportunity) and have been keeping him updated. I let him know that I went by the school, and he asked if I had spoken with her. Hopefully good news will come of this meeting bwtn new P and the teacher I worked w/ last year.

I would email or call her. Does she know you've been offered another position? I think if you explained to her your position she might be able to help "get the ball rolling."

I know this must be frustrating for you. Just keep your head up!!!

    Keep us posted!!

Ok, so my contact had the meeting today. I haven't heard anything yet. Should I email her? And if so, what should I say?
