I taught elementary school for 4 years. I was at my previous district for 3 years. My principal chose not to rehire me and several other teachers for no apparent reason (she got forced out over the summer because we had major problems at our school because of her). After all the chaos, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue teaching and took an office job. I've realized that I do miss teaching and that my original plan, to pursue a master's and become a reading specialist, is still what I want to do. I know most people teach full time while getting their degree. I'm more interested in going straight to school full time then looking for a reading specialist position. At this point, I know what I want and it's not juggling a classroom at a new school while going back for my masters. I don't want wait that long for my degree and I'm fortunate enough that financially, I don't need to work full time. My question is, am I crazy? Am I greatly hurting my chances of ever getting a job? I guess I feel like - this is what I want and I should just go for it but I don't want to act too rashly (I did that once in my life - when I left teaching - and I'm not planning to do it again). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!
