Hi! I am currently putting together my portfolio and would like to know if it's a good idea to decorate it a little? I thought about making some of the pages (like the first page with my picture and introduction) on colored paper. Do u think I should or just leave it all black ink and white paper? Thanks!

make it reflect you. I too have a portfolio and have seen several. As long as its put together professionally and has everything, it should be fine to decorate a bit!

I have always been told that the 24lb Ivory Parchment Paper is the best paper to use. I bought mine several years ago at Wal-Mart, which by far the cheapest at that time.

I think that your portfolio should be a reflection of something more than you can get from your resume and cover letter. I teacher lower elementary and my portfolio is decorated. It is like a scrapbook of parts of my teaching philosophy. I have gotten good reviews from administrators I have shown it to. If you are artistic/crafty and that will be part of who you are in the classroom then by all mean make it creative!

thanks for the advice. I don't want to make it too flashy because I don't want that to take away from the lessons and stuff in it, but I thought it should be fun. I'm a fun and creative person so why not?!?!

any other advice as to what to include? I've put in all my clearances and certificates, some lessons, assessment tools I've created and bulletin boards I've made. Anything else?

What do you mean when would I show it? I'm not quite sure I follow you.

Has anyone ever seen an INTASC principle based portfolio? My university requires it to be set up under INTASC principles. Thank you!
