Just wondering - do you all teach public or private kinder? How many kids in your class?
Public with 23 kids, I started in October with 15 kids.
Public school with 24 students.
Public school 23 kids. I had 3 added on once school started
My last school was private I usually had b/w 18-20
Public Charter School - 22 kids (two full time assistants)
i teach first but at our school we have a half day kinder and a full day kinder....half day has 12 students, full day has 14 students
public school but not kinder is not required by the state
Private. 7 students.
State special school: 6 kids
I forgot to say that I am private with 14 kids. (and 1 assistant)
Upsadaisy - 7 kids?? I am so jealous! Oh the stuff I could do with a smaller class.
I'd rather have 14 because I like to do small group work for projects, play team games, etc. We're starting a reader's theater play next week and I have to double up the roles. Sigh. The only good thing is fewer papers to grade.
I teach PK (20 students in each of 2 sessions with a full time aide). Our Kdg classes have 18, 15 and 16 kids in them, and they all three share an aide. Two children have 1-1 sped eds, as well. This is a public school, with all day K.

Public with class max of 20- but I currently have 17.
public- 20 (that is our maximum amount we're allowed to have)
I am not sure what NJ's maximum is. I was supposed to be capped at 22 but I got a new student a few months ago. When I have a few kids out it really does make a difference to my day.

What do you all think is the optimum class size for primary and intermediate? With or without aides?

Hi, I teach in a virtual public school. I teach grades K-2 and normally have about 65 students. It is easier to handle in an online environment because the kids are not all running around at once. It is a little difficult at times though to get a kindergarten student to talk to me on the phone.
Private, 16 kids
For primary I would think around 10 or so without an aide and maybe16-18 with one.
My class is in very high demand next year and we are taking 18 instead of our usual 16. Still there are kids who wont get a spot in my class for next year.
How awesome! I didn't know schools were doing this yet - definitely something I want to look into when I get certified.

Public school, 14 kids, no aide.
Our kindergarten classes (public) have a max of 20 students. We have 15 K classes, and are planning on adding at least 2 more next year.
Public school - 20 students this year. That is a GREAT class size for me. We usually have 26 or so. I think our max is 29?
I think at our district school it's 25-27 kids in K. Aides on & of throughout the day!!!
I teach prek and have 9 and the K teacher has 11. It's private school and we have no assistants - don't need them with these small classes.
I teach in a public school. I have one kindergartner but ten students in total and one aide.
