With all the stories in the news lately about registered s-x offenders re-offending, I finallly took a look at the list for my area. I could not believe how many there are! In fact, there were at least 2 on the same street as the school, and there is someone living ON MY STREET (a few houses down) that was convicted of possession of child porn. I had never thought to look at the list before because I assumed someone like that wouldn't be living on my street, but you really never know!! I'm not sure if these lists are available in all states now, but it's worth a look -- I found the one for my area by googling my county name, state, and "s-x offenders."

I think many people automatically assume someone like that wouldn't be living on their street. Then again, these s-x offenders have to live somewhere after they're released right?

I checked my s-x offender list (available through the county sheriff's website) not that long ago. I don't care if they live on my block or near the school after being released just as long as they're registered like they're supposed to be and as long as they mind their p's and q's and aren't doing anymore offending. That's the way I look at it. Then again, I don't have my own children yet like many of you do.

The list for my area is depressing. For a tiny town, we have a huge list! We have one that lives just up the road from the school and wanders the roads all day. It's scary to think of them all out there just around the corner.
