I was just given my own English IV classroom! :celebrate:

This is after a year of being a Title I teacher in a Social Studies classroom, working with another teacher. It was a great way to learn how to run a classroom in an online environment but now I get to do things my own way in my actual area of certification.

My only problem now? Classes start tomorrow and it's as if I don't have the keys to my room OR my syllabus yet. Should be an interesting week! I will probably be picking the brains of every English teacher on the forum in the following weeks.

I feel like a first-year teacher all over again, but I'm more excited than scared.

Congrats--I do agree with Alice. Starting with some ACT/SAT prep would be a great way to start until you can get some ideas about what is going on. Also, you might want to check and see if the students had a summer reading project because that would also be a great place to start.

Right now it's a little crazy. Since I had already sent out an intro email on behalf of my now former co-teacher, I'm getting all of her students' questions. I'm trying to redirect them while grumbling that she still hasn't sent out notification that she's teaching solo until I'm replaced. Meanwhile, only 7 of my 130 current students can access my classroom.

Welcome to the first day of school! I need an aspirin...
