I need to go to a workshop tomorrow, but I'm not sure what
to wear. It isn't a mandatory district thing. I'm a new
teacher, and I look rather young. Are jeans and a nice
shirt ok? I just don't want to dress nicer and look silly.

I am wondering the same thing. I have a workshop on Wednesday and they said nothing about clothing. I also have others coming up for new teachers. My district sent a letter out and said to dress "business casual" I think I might wear a nice skirt with a simple top - I am guessing that is a safe bet.

I usually wear nice slacks, but a skirt sounds MUCH cooler. I have Inclusion training on Tues and Wed, and it's gonna be 100+ for the next few days.

    Good luck at your workshop!

I forgot to say that a lot of other teachers here wear jeans, so that might be OK, too. I just wouldn't do shorts.

I would wear something more professional than jeans (at least the first day). I would wear dockers and a nice shirt. Nothing fancy, but still professional. You nicer know who you will meet at the workshop and the above outfit covers almost any dress code. I definitely wouldn't wear jeans if it said business casual. Nice capris could be an options, but it just depends on the capris and what you wear with them :)

I agree, Tasha. Save the jeans for day 2 when you see how the others dress. I would follow the district's policy for classroom attire.

I used to work in a district that required we wear a "spirit shirt" from our particular school whenever we wore jeans, AND it had to have a collar.
