I keep reading the importance of modeling procedures, procedures, procedures for students. What kinds of procedures do you have in place? Here are the few I'm thinking of but I know there are more.

    *Lining Up
    *Washing Hands
*What to do when they walk into the classroom and back into the classroom at various times the day
    *Bathroom Policies and Procedures
    *Sharpening Pencils and Getting Supplies
    *Cleaning Up

    What else?

    Backpacks and Coats
    Folder or Mailbox procedures
Using glue, crayons, scissors and how to get them out and out them away.
    Hallway
Bathroom (one squirt of soap, one paper towel, always flush)

    I will think of more....lol

Play time (rules like sharing, taking care of the toys, cleaning up when you're done with something, etc.)

End of the day routines (I find this time to be very hectic!)

Yikes! How could I forget that one? When do you practice it? Before, during, after?

which one? If you're talking about fire drill, I would definitely practice the drill before the school-wide drill.

Make sure you remember to teach them how to use the eraser at the end of their pencil. I had kids last year that destroyed many erasers because they pushed too hard and broke the eraser right off. Mid year it dawned on me that I never taught them how to do it properly. You will probably also have to get in lots of practice in the right way to hold a pencil or a crayon.
