    Hi all,

I am currently looking to transition into a career as an elementary school teacher. I was earlier working as a lawyer, but after some years I realized this was not the path I wanted to pursue.
A bit of background about me is that I am originally from Singapore, and I pursued a law degree in London, England.

I moved to Mountain View, california to join my husband who works in silicon valley. I really want to pursue teaching, but I am confused about the options. I obviously know that to work in a public school means I'd have to go through the credentialing program. But with regards to private schools, is it the case that one need not be licensed by the state of California? That doesn't really make sense to me.
