asking if I am quiting. I rarely make visits to my Ps office. She has an open door policy, so that is not the issue; however, the last couple of times I went to her office with just minor questions, right away she asks: "Are you quiting?" My reply is always no....but it gets me to start thinking...does she want me to quit? She doesn't want me to quit, thus, she asks if I am quiting? She's attempting something with humor? I just wonder why she has asked me this regularly as of late? I understand there may not be an answer, but...

Why not ask your P why she is asking the question? Are there other staff members quitting?

Are a lot of other people quitting? Maybe she is just getting overloaded with people coming in and quitting? My school lost 10 people out out a staff of 21. It was a revolving door of I quit.Maybe that's what's going on. I don't know. But that may be her reason for asking.

I'd say, "No, why?" by reflex. That question would give me pause!

No. No other staff members are quitting.

I agree, you should definately ask. I know it feels awkward, so if you really don't want to ask face to face, there's always an option (at least at my school) to email and ask.

Also, even if people say they are staying, they may be either quitting or being involuntarily transferred. Take me for instance. I am close with several teachers at my school and I've only mentioned to two people (one is a recess monitor, the other is a paraprofessional) that I am leaving. All my other coworkers don't know unless someone else has told them
