One of my all time favorites. I LOVE/D Prince!!! I mean I grew up listening to him.
We had our Gram who lived in Minnesota take us to Lake Minnetonka!!! LOL!!!

Rest in Peace... Boy Heaven must be a rocking place with all the greats we have lost just this year!!!

How terribly sad to have lost an innovative artist. Today's musical acts can learn something from this legend. RIP Prince.

So sad. He was just in Toronto less than a month ago to perform two unplugged shows; several of our staff members were lucky enough to get tickets.

I regret never seeing him. In the 90s as a teen, I didn't understand why he changed his name to the symbol -- years later, my husband explained how he did it to get out of a horrible recording contract, and I had a whole new appreciation for him. He was so young -- does anyone know what happened?

I wasn't really a fan, but I didn't dislike him either. So sudden, so sad.

As I said on Facebook, "Sunday night, I was driving home from rehearsal while listening to the 80s station (yes, I'm one of those people). "1999" came on and I HAD to sing the female harmony at full volume with the windows down. It was one of those moments I felt 20 years younger and full of all that energy that came with the song. Migod, what a gift."

Ha... I am one of those who plays 80s music too. I texted a couple people today. I texted my old babysitter so sad about Prince we spent many hours bouncing on our trampoline(yes we had a trampoline in mid 80s without & net...we all lived & never had any injuries.. Lol) & making up dances to his music.

I didn't grow up with Prince -- he was far too risqué for my parents and I didn't know anyone who listened to him (except for the song 1999, my HS grad year!) until I was out of college. My husband is a musician and was the one who turned me on to him. He had an immense respect for Prince as a multi-instrumentalist and real musician's musician.

Purple Rain was released just as I graduated from college. I listened to that album repeatedly. I never went to see him, but I know I can still sing every word.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news driving home from school Thursday afternoon..i went numb when the radio DJ said Prince Rogers Nelson, dead at 57..my heart nearly stopped..just too sad.

And his former love Denise Matthews aka ''Vanity'', who became an Evangelist after she left Hollywood (and Prince) also passed away at the age of 57 just 2 months ago actually.

I guess they are together again. RIP :(:(

Denise Matthews aka Vanity, guest spoke at my church years ago. Sad about her passing too.

If anyone watched that reality show that was on a while back called Hollywood Exes, about exes of celebs, they had Mayte Garcia on there who was an ex-wife of Prince. They had a son together, but he died in infancy. Prince married another lady after her, but they had divorced too. His second ex-wife went on to marry singer Eric Benet, one of Halle Berry's ex-husbands.

Changing the subject a bit, the only 2 people I've ever known who LOVED Prince & were diehard fans was this one classmate of mine when I was in 6th grade & this guy I knew in high school.

I remember that..very sad about their son, he died very shortly after birth.....I know she went on to adopt a baby girl after that show aired.

She twittered (or facebooked) that she loved Prince and always would and that he is now with their son in heaven :(

ABC... My sis emailed did you hear Prince died... I think I lost my breathe for a few seconds!!! I was so surprised & shocked. Such a loss for the music world... To be able to do what he did... Pure magic & just his whole soul in every song. Too bad more artists these days aren't made from the same cloth... (Sorry sound so old right there). I am shocked at the YouTube postings over the weekend... Try to find something on Thursday, Friday barely anything... Now tons!!!!

Does anyone know if that big disc machine was called BETA or something similar? I remember how in the late 80's and early 90's, we had a choice to rent videos in either the BETA or VHS format. I rented "Purple Rain" from Blockbuster during my junior year of high school.

Big disc was not a beta. Beta was like a smaller vhs tape. I put a link to the laser disc. I was pretty sure that was what it was, but it has been a long time. Lol

Just now on the news, it was said that at this point in time, Prince still has enough new, unheard songs for the next 100 yrs.
