let's face it: we have to cherish what we can get. I have a student who was gone for the two days before T-giving break and was gone Monday and Tuesday of this week. Her mom sent a note today explaining they were in New Hampshire since the weekend before T-giving and just got back yesterday because her (mom's) g-ma isn't doing very well. She said that her daughter was really worried about getting all her absent work done.

I gave my student all her absent work and explained it. I later sent her mom a text telling her that I gave her the work and when it was due. I told her that I will be thinking about her family and that if all the work isn't done by the due date, she could have extra time. Mom sent back a nice text saying how much she appreciate my flexibility and how much her daughter enjoyed my class. She thanked me for being a patient and caring teacher. :)

It's just nice to hear things like that sometimes.

    That is great!

    I got a note from a student today -
Mrs. X You are the best teacher in our class!

I am the only teacher in there, but still ;)

I did have a student tell me today that when I first came to the school (when he was a sophomore) that he HATED me, but now that he's a senior, I'm one of his favorite teachers.
