I am a burned out elementary teacher and was just told by my asst. superintendent that I am only probably 1 or 2 classes away from having my secondary endorsement in English. I did not tell him that I stink at grammar. I am not sure I could actually teach it if I am so poor at writing papers myself.
Grammar isn't even taught at the high school my middle school feeds into. What they get from us is what they get! You may be off the grammar hook! Who knows? Actually, grammar is fairly easy to learn. You could teach yourself. That's what I did!
Very true! I do plan to help in any way that I can because my first bit of college I suffered. I have made lots of improvement since but I still am not really comfortable. I am sure it will take time and it will come back to me. Thanks for everyones help and encouragement. I am feeling a little more secure.
I heard that the worst students in something are the best students because they know the little tricks to help themselves learn. Go for it. You'll do fine. I wasn't the best at grammar when I started teaching, I just reviewed before I taught.
OK you guys today I found out that I lacked only one course to get my secondary endorsement. It is Literary Theory and Criticism. I am from Virginia and am trying to find this course and where it is offered. If anyone else knows where I can find this course given at night or during the summer please let me know.
I would expect that to be fairly easy to pick up on line, if nothing else... but it would also make sense to check with your local community colleges (if they're allowed to offer upper division coursework), public universities, and private universities (especially those that cater to working adults). Go back to whoever told you which course you need and see if you can get a list of courses that would work and schools that offer them.
