    Hi Everyone,

Today was the first day the kids were able to explore our classroom centers. I have 6 centers and the majority of the children were at 3 of the 6. Our school is child centered and I need a better system that will allow center time to flow better. I thought to assign groups and time each activity but that really isn't child centered????

    Any ideas?

Limit the number of kids in each area. Put up signs. I've done this for years and years and it works well. They rotate on their own for the most part and if they don't, I make the necessary moves to other areas of the room so everyone can play where they want sometime during the day.

Let me guess--the girls were in housekeeping and the boys played with cars and blocks.

If this is your first day, I would not worry too much. Spend some group time talking about all the centers. You might have to rev up the excitement in a couple centers.
