I'm curious about when I should tell my principal that I'm pregnant. I'm about 6 weeks now but we are going on summer vacation starting Friday. They are doing a ton of construction this summer so I'm not sure if she'll be in and how often. please!!
Congratulations!!!! I would wait until mid summer (and did with my February-born daughter). Six weeks is still pretty early. Many people are more comfortable waiting out that first trimester.
I agree with most, but you know your principal & I guess it's a matter of your preference. I did shortly after I found out because small school & communities I really wanted to tell first, but someone already beat me to it!!! Although it went really well, I just got questioned what took me so long to tell!!! (Princ was on vacation & I had known the P very well)!!! Good Luck in whatever you decide. By the way CONGRATS!!!!
Other than my best friend - who also taught with me... i made SURE that i didn't tell the other teachers BEFORE the principal. I didn't want her to find out second hand.
Even if I will be showing before mid summer? I didn't lose all of my baby fat from my first baby yet and I already look a little pregnant. I'm afraid that if I wait too long, I'll really be showing before I get a chance to tell her. Especially if it's going to be 2 months before I'll be coming back to the school.
I would at least wait until you're out of your first trimester. There was a teacher at school who definitely was looking pregnant, but hadn't said anything (she's tiny and only gains weight in the stomach area when she's pregnant), but by the fall she came in not pregnant. Speculation was that she had miscarried, but it was never confirmed since she had never said anything about being pregnant. Your P may deduce you're pregnant from looking at you, but she won't know for sure until you tell her (unless you wait until you're 7 months and then she'd probably figure it out
Congratulations! I would definitely wait until you are three months along. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and I waited until then. Make sure your principal finds out before your co-workers. It is amazing how fast good news spreads around.
