Has anyone recently taken the Praxis II? I didn't have to for IL. I am moving to AL and now I have to take the Praxis II to get my Alabama certificate. I am just curious to see how it was. I am nervous considering I haven't taken state tests in a while. Thank yoU!
I took it about 3 years ago. It actually wasn't that bad. I took it before having any real classroom experience as well. There are some review books out there that are somewhat helpful in preparing for the tests. Which do you have to take? I had to take the concepts and processes and a content knowledge on I believe. I am NOT a good test taker and passed the first time. You'll be FINE!
Thank you. I have to take the 0014--Content Knowledge of El Ed. Does it help to have classroom experience when you take it? Thanks for your advice. I take it this Saturday..so not much time to get a study book! Ooops!
katydid205, you might want to visit the Multiple Subject Tests subforum, http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=70 - we've had several discussions of 0014 there, and a lot of material on CSET-MS and other tests that cover similar ground.
Praxis II 0014 Do you guys think it helps to have teaching experience to take the Praxis II. I take it Saturday and i have 5 years teaching experience. I'm moving to AL and they require that test. Thanks!
I don't think that you have to had classroom experience. I didn't when I took it except for student teacher etc. you'll do just fine.
I agree that teaching experience is probably not necessary - content knowledge exams normally don't presuppose teaching experience. You may find, however, that it helps to approach the questions as a teacher: think about how you'd guide someone else.
I took it last year after not teaching for 21 years. I passed the 1st time. It definitely won't hurt to have classroom experience, but it's not necessary.
Classroom experience will help, but I took it my last semester of college and passed first time. I heard that it helps to draw pictures...for example, if they ask you to explain how you would teach time to the quarter hour, draw pictures of the clocks you would use. The girl that gave me that advice passed first time- and so did all of us that used it!
