Hello Hello Everyone! On Saturday, I will take the Praxis II (5001) multi subject. I have to admit, I am somewhat nervous. I have been studying and reading here and there. I also purchased FORM 1 AND FORM 2 practice tests (Which I think are expensive and should be free) from the Praxis website. I've been taking those just trying to stay fresh. I truly hope and pray they were worth the money and I see at least some of the questions from those test considering the costs. I guess my question is do you guys have any tips for me going in on Saturday??? My nerves are just a little up there. My sweet husband scheduled me a massage for Friday in hopes it will help me destress and relax. Fingers crossed and praying for the best. I want these test over with. Any positive suggestions are welcomed.
Hugs, Goldie317. Nerves before testing taking are pretty normal. Treat yourself as kindly as you'd treat a student or your best friend in the same situation. You might consider changing up your study a little by looking out for examples of the principles and concepts that you're studying in your everyday life. Walking the dog is a great time to invoke Newton's laws and to mull about ways to transfer energy; cooking is also chemistry. National Public Radio news tends to come with bits of historical background; even if NPR doesn't suit your ideology, those bits can be valuable when it comes to making sense of social studies. Magazines and print ads are full of opportunities to put English/language arts principles to work. And math is simply everywhere.
Well...... I have cried all the way home. My anxiety was so HIGH, I completely bombed. First, I could not sleep at all last night. I may have gotten 2 to 3 hours of sleep. 90% of the stuff from my studying I did not see, I ran out of time on the math, AND..... My stomach was super upset and I was having chest pains. I am shocked I passed SS. I felt so defeated by the then. My scores are as follows: LA 156, SS 170, SCI 130, MTH 128. So back to it I go. I have rescheduled the LA test for August 17th. I will take the others seperately following. I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO KEEP MY ANXIETY DOWN!!!
Hugs and hugs, Goldie317. There's no shame in taking subtests one by one. As for the anxiety, you might want to look into self-hypnosis.
Thank you. Can you recommend any other study guides and/or practice test besides PRAXIS website ones and the Cirrus Praxis II study guide???
Other Praxis guides? No, I'm afraid not. But you might find it helpful to have a somewhat better grip on the content, and the books in the Help Your Kids With... series published by DK (Dorling Kindersley) are a good place to start.
You should look into Dr Gardner's math book if you're looking for study guides for the math portion. Here's the link: https://www.mgmtutoring.com/books/math-5003-made-easy/ I personally haven't used it (yet) but I will once I begin to prepare for the 5001. Hope this helps!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am retaking LA on Saturday. I missed it by a question. I scored 156. I will definitely look into what you suggested for math. My husband is also going to tutor me now that he is home and not on travel for a while. I look to take it in October.
I'm not sure if it's possible, hope I'm not breaking any rules, can I get copies of the study guides you bought? Also, what are you using to study for math, science and social studies...those would be the more challenging areas for me. Congrats on pass your LA.
"can I get copies of the study guides you bought?" Yes, that is breaking copyright rules and is considered stealing. You should buy your own copy, please. - Tim
