Richard Byrne's blog Free Technology for Teachers, www.freetech4teachers.com, is a good source of links to study resources. Video documentaries can be good choices for social studies, and YouTube videos cover a wide range of topics in science. Wikipedia is the test taker's friend. Please work on mastering the terminology along with the concepts, so that you won't be sandbagged by wrongly used technical terms in possible answers.

Also, I'm not sure how the test is formulated in your state, but the Reading/Language Arts section consists of 49 questions, the Math consists of 41 questions, Science and Social Studies consists of 25 questions. So that calculates to 140. So not sure if the numbers are correct for the person that passed it with a 178.

5018 is the same in every state in which it's given. Comparison of score reports to what's in the Test Companion indicates that 20 of the questions are "pre-test" or "non-scoring" or whatever Praxis's current label is for questions that are given in the test but that are counted neither for nor against the test taker because the questions are being field-tested for inclusion in future tests.

You're welcome. Both Praxis and Pearson field-test questions this way.

I am taking both 5017 and 5018 on April 7 and then 5203 on the 11th. I have been using www.virtualnerd.com for Math. It has really helped as far as explanation. Then I do Kahn academy for practice! Good luck!

I took 5018 today and did not do as well as I thought I would. It has changed tremendously and a lot difficult to me. I made a 24/49 in Reading/Language Arts, 19/41 in Mathematics, 8/25 in Social Studies, and 10/25 in Science. I don't think I passed. They used to give you your score upfront for computerized tests, but was told they conduct a data analysis now. So I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks. I have a ton of study material and nothing I have was on the test. The only material similar to the test is the practice test purchased from ETS. This is very discouraging. If you have passed 5018, do you have any suggestions??

You tube videos friend. I have watched a few for areas I was weak in and am learning a lot. All other study materials are worthless except the practice questions. Keep at it, I'm going for try 3 and raised my score the second time. We can do this!!

Could you please tell me what resources you used to study science and social studies?

So, I just took my Praxis 2 (5018) today for the second time. I'm such a horrible test taker but I felt confident today. So the first time I took it I made 27/13/5/12 in reading language arts, math, social studies and science. My score was 143 and I didn't pass. I needed a 163. Fast forward to today I made a 25/22/12/14 in those core areas. I got a score but with raw scores included as well.

Is there any crazy possible way that I passed this exam? And if someone understands the scoring process, would you care to help me understand it?

Thanks!
