I'll be taking it again, missed it by 2. 78 raw=161.
I passed. I thought I had a raw score of 90, but my raw score was actually 82. Barely passed. Score 166 scaled.
I passed!!! 80 raw score = 164 scaled score!!! God is good. Soooo sorry for those who did not pass, God bless you!!
Sooooo happy with that
oh i am so sorry
Thank God I passed. Raw score was 82 but out of 120 instead of 140 and my scaled score is 166
Raw score 101, scaled score 188
Guys!!!! I passed!!! Raw score of 82!!!! And 166 scaled score!!!!
To all of you who failed! Keep hope alive!! Fantom25!! You were sooo close!! If you need any advice!! Just reply! I will tell you the books I studied (which in my opinion really didn't help) lol and other methods I used!!
I passed!!! Raw score 90 = 175!! I'll take it! Now to celebrate! !!!
Seriously you guys, I have been teaching for 12 years, studied a lot and still can't pass. This was my second for 5018 and I also failed the 5017. I have always passed CO Place. Something is wrong!! It shouldn't be this hard to relocate!! Here's to hoping 3rd times a charm!
Geez, did anyone else fail? Feeling like crap right now!
I'm so sorry, Fantom! I know you will get it next time. It is a BEAST!!!!
Hey Fantom. I got a 78 raw score as well. You're not alone! I've taught middle school math for 12 years, and I did well on the math section, but I bombed the reading section. I'm taking the PLACE next weekend. Is it "easier" than this was? This test would have been fine if I had a way to study. I bought the flashcards and they proved to be worthless!
Yep, all study materials have proved to be worthless as well! I'm done studying. I'll take it again next week. Place is easier, I passed it first try for both of my endorcements. Thanks, you made me feel better! I thought I was alone. 3 times to pass, really?!
You're NOT alone. I'm sure there's a lot more of us out there. The average score was 160- 180, so there were quite a few people that did worse. Hang in there! Just imagine what we'd tell our kiddos if they were struggling with a "test". "Grit builds character", "How will you react in the face of adversity?" Plus, just remember, this doesn't measure how effective you are as a teacher. It's just measuring the content, not the heart!
I know, but I'm going broke in the process. I have to pass 3 of them to get renewed in Tennessee!
Has anyone done worse on their next try? For some reason I'm afraid of that.
Alright Praxis friends, I'm taking it again on Thursday. No more studying, I'll just go. Wish me luck. Sounds like I need an 80. That's 2 more questions. Last time I got 5 more right. I can do it!!
You can DEFINITELY do it!!!! I admire your attitude! But that type of perseverance is what will overcome this madness! I am in Tennessee as well and it is tough, but you are almost there! I just can't believe they don't have a faster way of reporting scores. They should be able to let us know the day after the window closes. I agree about the no studying part. It is just luck of the draw what questions you get! Best of luck to you!
Thanks, actually I'm feeling relaxed and ready. I'll post my raw when I'm done.

Congratulations to Melwil, Newteacher, Melissa, Trey, and naan (who walloped this test!) and to anyone I may have missed earlier.
Hugs to Fantom and RockChalk. RockChalk, let me urge you to study up on reading instruction methodology terms, especially as regards early reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency). Fantom, I know you said you're retaking without studying (and I've known one or two people who'd struggled that passed that way), but if you too came up short in reading, the same advice might apply.
Hey, Phantom I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing the Interactive 5018 test...its $19.95!! It sounds like a lot!! But it will KEEP YOU FROM having to re-take the test over! I decided to purchase it after I thought I failed...and was going to study that...it looks DAMN near similar on the test we took! Please if you have an extra $20 just buy it...memorize the answers and the " idea and logic of the answers!! And u will ddooo fine!
You have!! 5 days to cram!! You can do it!!! Cram-Study!! Like your life depends on it!!
Yes, an 80 will get you a 164. I pray you pass this time. What is weaker for you, English or Math? Maybe think about that one area and try to remember what on it you didn't understand. God be with you and grant you the knowledge you need to pass this time!!
Been there, done that along with a few other methods. Not a penny of my money or a minute of my time has paid off. That's why I'm done "studying"!
It is actually social studies that killed me this time.
Nope, not doing it. I tried that for 2 weeks the first time. Then I studied everything that could possibly be on it over two months. I'm done!!
Trust me!!! I completely UNDERSTAND!! Believe me!! If your not going to cram! At least!! Go into the test with a different mindset!
Like its a new test!! Just use your prior intelligence to answer EVERY question! Use your best guess And you will pass!!
I know it does not make sense now!! But your attitude and views on the test will help you get the right answers! Or at least enough to pass!!
Let's hope so! I doubt I forgot all that stuff in 3 weeks. My biggest fear is possibly scoring lower. I raised my score 10 points last time so surely I can get 2 more this time. I might watch a few you tube videos, but think that's it. I may have possibly over studied and have a bad case of test anxiety! I have never been good at this stuff.
Hello....I didn't pass either....if possible....could you post suggested study materials....thanks
I did as well I'm so bummed right now....my job is on the line too....I just can't seem to pass this test....its depressing.
You are not alone! I'm going at try 3 on Thursday. It's a beast!! I'm losing out on being considered for jobs in Tennessee so am in a similar boat. Try you tube videos. They seem to be helping me.
Thanks...think I'm going to try again in June. Good Luck!
First! Keep hope Alive! Walk into the test with an Open mind!
Purchase the 5018..interactive test its $19.99....it may be expensive but it's ALOT better than CONTINUINGLY purchasing $120 for the actual test!
The two books that I used was 5014 cliff notes for the 5014 test its a yellow book by Jocelyn Paris
Also another book I read was 5014 "learning express" 2nd edition!
It's 2016 and there are currently no actual books on 5018! Yet which is crazy
These books ONLY help with back ground knowledge...do not try and memorize the answeres in the book and THINK that a similar question will be on test!! Only study the book for background knowledge...the more knowledge you have!!! The better your guess will be!!
It's all about Narrowing down to that final answer
But they were helpful for Math and Language Arts!!
I agree with you Trey! Also since Math and Language Arts have more questions focus on them a little more as for basic knowledge
I did seven of the online practice tests through ETS.. It's 19.99 for 10 tests. Each test is the same, but the material must be similar to the test because I feel it is the only way I passed. I took one the night before I took the test and one about every two days before that for two weeks. It is a lot of time, but I got to where I only missed 10 on the whole test by the end. I'm so sorry you both have to try again. I now am studying for my PLT k-6. Again, all I can do is study and pray.

Hi...I'm taking Praxis 5018 next week. Do we have to qualify individual sections/subjects. Or do we need an overall score 163. Many exams require candidates to pass in each subject too. Not sure about this one. Any ideas?
Good luck. I'm taking it on 7th May.
