Hello everyone: I took the PPR and received the number of correct answers; 58 out of 80 (already eliminated the 10 not counted). Did I pass? How can you calculate?

If you've been told that 80 of the questions count and you got 58 of those 80 correct, then if this PPR thing is scored like most teacher tests, you probably did pass. Around 3/4 correct is usually a good score.

If you got told that you got 58 of the questions correct overall, and if you know 10 questions don't count but you don't know whether your 58 correct include any of the non-scoring questions, then that's probably cutting things rather close.

Texas Groupie, thanks for your reply. Actually, when I took the exam there were 90 questions and since I took a computer-based exam, I received a print-out of correct answers. It showed only 80 questions--eliminating the field questions. I got 58/80

    I guess I'll see in about a week---if a passed.

    Thanks, again!

    Not "Texas Groupie", no.

As to your results, if that's what you got, then chances are pretty good that you've passed. Let us know when you find out, please, and I'll have a little something festive poised to raise in your honor.

I passed! Thank you for attentiveness--I was really nervous and you were the only one that replied. I really appreciate it!

    Congrats Cupid

Way to go! I just took the PPR 8-12 on June 16, 2007 and was blown away. It was difficult. I had taken the PPR class, passed all the tests (even the 2003 PPR test as the final) and had the highest avg. in the class. Well, that didn't help any. It seems as though I was being tested on a different subject. Anyway..... My test was 90 questions and from reading your prior posts, they only take 80 questions? That might help me. I will have to wait until July 6th to find out my grade and I am afraid it will not be pretty.

Just curious.. how long did it take you to complete the PPR? I'm taking it on Monday at 9am, and scheduled my fingerprinting appointment at 11:20 (I thought the test started at 8 and that 3 hours would be more than enough. When I re-checked it was at 9. :p ) I'm guessing I'll need to reschedule the appointment...

It would make sense to allow a little time for regrouping, I'll put it that way.

It took me about 2 and a half hours and I'm a fast test-taker, so I'm guessing you'll take longer than that. Good Luck!

Melissa, if it was computer based, you'll probably get an e-mail with your unofficial score in 2 or 3 days. :) Good luck!

I took mine today as well, however I took the paper based version so I won't know anything for a while.

    Good luck!

    Taking PPR in Oct 2007

Does anyone here (who took and passed the PPR) have any advice for me??? Any study methods?

I just finished Alternative Certification classes with ECAP and I will go through all my notes, as well.

ANY advice will be helpful to me! :)
    Thanks so much!

PPR EXAM Same Score - I Did Not Pass- HELP!

I too took the Computer Based exam and received a score of 58 out of 80. My score came back as 238 and 240 is needed to pass the exam. I'm confused and frustrated. I'm reading that the exact same score received a passing score and 59 correct has a score of 252. I felt sure that I should have received a higher score as I was very sure to keep track of the answers that I felt I had answered correctly. In addition, I called to see if my score could be re-evaluated and was told that the CBT scores are confirmed a second time. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I took the PPR in July and got 60 out of 80 and passed with a 248. I read that the scoring is based on how all the persons did who took the test on that exact date. Don't give up....My teacher once told me it took a person 12 times but she eventually passed.

I'm sorry to hear that, teach2u.

Teacher tests use scaled scores because it's very difficult to write two test questions, let alone two full sets of test questions, that are exactly equivalent in difficulty, but it's very important that each version of the test be of equivalent difficulty overall. The formulas or algorithms that translate raw scores into scaled scores contain fudge factors to balance things out.

Not, of course, that this makes your position any easier.

From the TExES Web site, http://www.texes.ets.org/cat/testResultsandScoreReporting/:

Chances are a panel convened by the state education people decided that 240 would be the passing scaled score on every TExES and then decided what kind of performance would produce a scaled score of 240.

Does anyone know if 61 out of 80 on the EC-4 PPR is passing? I also took the computer based test and wanted to know how it usually takes before you can view unofficial scores? Please Help

baseballmom10, see the post above by TeachersRock - though I very much doubt that passing is determined by how everyone else does on the day: teacher tests as a class just don't work that way. In any case, while I wouldn't recommend that you open the champagne just yet, I think it would be safe to price it.

I took mine on a Saturday and could view them monday at 10 am. They just have to "run them through" or do a data dump. When did you take it?

baseballmom10, while I won't guarantee that you passed, I'll cheerfully wager a glass of champagne that you're being more nervous than you need to be.

Did you check the ETS site and the SBEC site? You are over 76% so I think you are fine. I would be very surprised if that did not pass with that score on the PPR. I did quite well on that one so I wasn't concerned about passing. I did; however, have computer problems during the submission process and was concerned my score wouldn't count.

I just took my EC-12 PPR yesterday by CAT and got 61/80. Is it safe to say I passed? Has anyone use the certify teacher software for the SpED EC-12 study exam? Any views on which test is easier? Thanks =)
