I did a second interview for a school district Thursday afternoon. Prior to the interview the principal said to send him references incase they decided to continue on with my candidacy. At the end of the interview he said that they are finishing interviews that day and then will be contacting my references, and then confirmed that I had send them to him. Then he said that if it takes a while to contact references in the summer, and not to get upset if I don't hear from him until sometime early next week. Then he never contacted my references. I don't understand why he made it seem like they definitely were, instead of just saying they will let me know soon, if they were going to.

It may take longer than 48 to contact references, especially since a LOT of people may be on vacation this week. Give it time. Hoping for the best for you!
