Do I send it to all people in the interview? If yes, do I mail them to the school? What is best to say besides the obvious? Thank you... :thanks:
Send a note to each person who interviewed you. Send them to the school if they all work at the school, if they work at the District Office then send them there. I thank them for meeting with me, tell them that if they have any further questions or require any more information to please let me know, and then tell them that I look forward to hearing from them. Short and sweet. Good luck with the job hunt!
Oh well, I should have clarified, I did not get the job. I found out three hours later. I am not sure who got it, but I believe that it went to a much more experienced teacher. The board members were in on the interview and I do not know how else to reach them. Also, any tips on what NOT to say in the letter; such as "Why the F did you not hire me!" and other like statements and questions...
"I appreciate the consideration and I hope that you will keep me in mind should any other opportunities arise."
"Thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I enjoyed the experience. I hope that you might consider me in the future as your district/school allows for many opportunities....." Something along those lines maybe. But you definitely still want to thank them for taking their time to interview you.
This is what I was thinking... Again I want to thank you for the interview. You do not know how much I appreciate the opportunity. I do understand that these decisions are not easy. I am working on becoming a stronger and more effective teacher each day. That is why I volunteer in classrooms when I am not substitute teaching. I am always seeking new challenges. My dream is to have my own classroom of students one day and I know in my heart that this will happen. Please call me if you have any teaching opportunities in the future that you would like to discuss. I am open to any teaching situation. I still believe that I would be a great fit with your staff and students. Sincerely, What do you think?
IMHO, your letter needs a LOT of work....:sorry: This link might help you get started..... http://www.snc.edu/career/education/thankyou.html Best of luck heavens54 Major.....
I have to agree with Major. The "you do not know" part could be construed as insulting or rude. Actually, there are few places where I sense an "attitude". How about something more along these lines.. Dear So and So, Thank you so much for the opportunity to interview for such and such position at ________district/school. I hope the candidate you select is the best fit for your team. I plan on continuing to gain more experience through substituting and volunteering in a variety of classrooms. Please keep in me in mind for future positions that open up as I am very interested in any teaching position in your district/school. Sincerely, My Name I'm sure that example is not the best one out there, maybe other posters can help too!
YES!!! Send it to all. Make it short, sweet, and to the point. Point out the details that you think most interested them and re-empahsize your strongest points. This is your last chance at making a statement to them, make it good.
