Just wondering what everyone wears to work as a teacher. Post pictures please.
Jul 31, 2008
Where can I find a picture of khakis with a polo? That is what I wear almost every day in Kindergarten!
Mostly something like these (might have to order that green jacket!)
I love cardigans!
I typically wear slacks from The Gap during the colder months. I'll wear capris during the warmer months.
I like to get colorful shirts from Macy's, Target, and JC Penney.
I also love to accessorize with different necklaces. I typically find them at Forever 21, JC Penney (their clearance jewelry is usually great!), and Charlotte Russe.
Dress Barn is my secret source. Everyone compliments me on my clothes from there. Plus, it is much cheaper than Coldwater Creek and the malls.
Love this jacket. I often wear skirts because pants are hard for me. I have scoliosis and one leg is always either too long or too short and I'm too cheap to go and have them tailored.
I also love Dress Barn!
This is something a little dressier I might wear...
This is something more casual...I actually bought this top the other day!
And yes, I do wear denim trousers. Personally with a dressy top and heels I think they look very professional and so do Stacy and Clinton! lol
I hope the links work?? I've never tried that before.
ku_alum likes to dress fancy! Button up shirts, sweaters and slacks are pretty much all I wear(the 3 S's). I wear jeans and a school sweatshirt on Fridays (and occasional other days hen I'm feeling extra crappy).
Monday through Thursday....
For dress down fridays..
Simple.. nothing fancy... I don't wear jewelry to school. I wear basic colors... never anything too bright.
NY & Co. ALWAYS has great sales.. you really can't beat it.
You can put it on , take a picture and then put it on here, Idk how to put it on here tho.
Those pants in the 1st one are cute! When you said slacks I thought of those old lady pants tight exersise pants you need to reword to like wide leg pants.
In warmer months I wear capris, gauchos, and skirts with sandals and a knit top or other type of blouse. I also like dresses, although I have trouble finding them to fit me properly. In addition to sandals, I have some flats and some heels.
In cooler months I wear slacks and denim skirts with a variety of blouses, sweaters, and blazers. Shoes are mostly flats or boots.
Yes, I do wear jeans sometimes. They're all either trouser cut or dark wash.
My slacks/capris are all the basic black, brown, and gray with a pair of winter white and a pair or two with pinstripes. I like to keep the bottoms neutral and spice it up with a variety of shirts.
I've been doing a bit of back-to-school shopping online, so here are a few items I've bought.
And you'll have to visit the links to see these.
And I have both pieces of this one:
I also always wear jewelry. I especially like necklaces, although earrings are a biggie, too.
Hmmm.... Well, right now I usually throw on my tan cords and a light sweater. And my brown clogs. But that will all change... August 10th! I meet with a stylist my husband got me. Then I'll be a new woman. I'm kind of leaning towards a classic 50's/60's look. Like Jackie O or Breakfast at Tiffany's meets the 2000's. I have NO idea what this will look like, hence the professional help. I'll def. post pictures then. But until then, I'm stuck with my current look:
Oh, I also wear a lot of circle skirts with 3/4 length sleeves. That's what I'm in today.
(If this were cotton, not cashmere) http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8998&pid=561820&scid=561820032
I love the pictures!! These look like the clothes I bought for my internship. I will be in Kindergarten!! JCPenney had some awesome sales. I also got a ton of shirts from a store that was going out of business. I have both slacks and capris. For shoes when I was doing my other student teachings, I wore Sketchers. They were the dresser shoes with straps. They feel like tennis shoes, but look like dress shoes.
I just bought this dress and plan to wear it on the first day of school with a sweater. http://www.lanebryant.com/pagebuilder/lane_bryant_product_page?item=1800143&pagesize=3
Here is another dress I bought for school...
A type of sweater I look for...
My favorite type of pants...
My preference for tops...(I'm not fond of the print, but it shows the fit I like)...
Funky Scarf- Almost every day!
I knot them like this but would not wear pink!
I love little cardigans...
Jeans most of the time (we are fairly casual.) I like wide leg DARK jeans ONLY. If I am not wearing jeans, I like corduroys. But I hate "chino" type cotton pants.
These are similar to my favorite earrings
This is sort of like my watch:
I also liked this look a lot last year...even though I sort of look like a pirate in it.
I have that same dress, and I was considering it for the first day as well . . . only I'd roast if I added a sweater.
Miss Froggy I am looking for earrings exactly like the ones you showed. Where did you find that picture?
I googled leaf earrings and I think those ones were from Avon or something like that. I bought mine at Target and get comments on them on a daily basis.
Here you go! AND they are on sale! I think I'm going to order some, too!
Thanks! It said they weren't available so I signed up for them to tell me when they are. I really like them!
Me, too. Why would they be on sale before they were available, though??
I'm so excited because Lane Bryant introduced new dark denim trousers as of yesterday. I'm going there this evening to pick up a couple.
I'm very casual...khakis, polo top, and tennis shoes most every day. Fuction before fashion!
I was disappointed in them. The legs were WAY too wide for me. Most of my pants are straight-leg, but some are wide . . . but these just went beyond wide. I couldn't see my feet.
I teach 3-year olds and always wear stuff from Walmart or Target (khaki/black pants) because you never know where a painted handprint will be. And once, when I was in a hurry to set up, I shook a gallon of black paint, and of course the lid was not twisted on it. Black paint flew everywhere. And no, that day I didn't have black pants on.
I wish I could wear jeans! I'm also a big target shopper because something ALWAYS gets on my shirt...you gotta love 5 year olds! They had nice cotton shirts for only $6 this week...i bought two!
Ah, I hate to hear that. They look really nice on the flyer I received and on the website, so we'll see. I always wear flare or wide leg, but I don't want it to look like a skirt either, so hopefully this is somewhere in the middle.
I wear a lot of skirts like this:
With tops like this:
And I usually wear a jean jacket like this (it's cold inside!):
For shoes, I wear something like this in summer:
And this in winter:
I also wear a lot of dresses like this (again, with the jean jacket):
I reallllly like this. I want to get one for the school year. Its adorable.
It doesn't work so well on those of us with larger upper-halves.
Oh how I envy those of you that can actually go to a mall to shop. I will be driving 6 hours to Anchorage, AK tomorrow to hit the J.C. Penny sale on Saturday. I miss Express, N.Y. & Co. and The Limited!
My FAVORITE store, that and Victoria's SEcret Catalog. So, I also wear these types of outfits.
It's been a couple years since I've been in Anchorage, but I remember the 5th Avenue mall being the best. There's a shoe store there with lots of comfy teacher shoes. Also, a Gap & a Banana Republic (not sure about Express, but maybe?). Are you teaching in a village school?
eta: Oh, and if you're still reading this thread, go to Value Village (I think it's on Dimond). When I first started teaching, I got a TON of great teacher clothes, a lot of them new, for like $100. It's close to the South Side / Hillside, so it gets the best donations.
I'm pretty sure I won't have that problem... I lack anything fantastic above the waist.... hahaha
I would die without these stores. Especially NY & Co. They really have adorable, trendy stuff at a reasonable price. Perfect for a teacher. I don't know how many @20 off 60 bucks I get and around the holidays there is a $30 off $60 one day sale.
Something like this:
Cute!! I have a shirt just like that but it has more buttons going down
There aren't any of the stores I listed at the 5th avenue mall, too bad. I live near Fairbanks and just got a teaching postition and need to update my teacher wardrobe. The last time I taught I lived in Georgia so all of my work clothes aren't warm or practical enough for -40 weather! Hopefully I will get to go to the lower 48 (St. Louis) for Christmas and doing some shopping there.
