So I had an interview this morning (the second one of the summer). First let me tell you how I got the interview. It pays to email P's..no matter if they have an opening or not. I emailed a P about two weeks ago and he was nice enough to respond saying that there was nothing at that time but would keep my info in case. I sent him a thank you back..Last week, two days after I came home with baby (born 8/4) the P calls me and asks me to come in for an interview!!! So we scheduled it originally for this past Monday but then he called back the next day and asked if I could reschedule it for today. He was very nice about it and was more concerned with working with my schedule. When he told me who I would be interviewing with (P, AP, and reading specialist) I recognized the AP's name..she was the AP at the school I did my student teaching, so she pretty much already knows me. I think he saw that I student taught at that school and since the AP used to be there, he already asked about me. Skip to this morning..I think this was my best interview yet. I was completely honest and didn't try to fudge any answers. There were a few responses where they nodded and would make comments like, "That is definitely the key answer right there," or "You hit the nail on the head." I think I fumbled on a couple of them, but overall I was just trying to be as genuine as possible. It wasn't long and only lasted about 30 minutes, but the questions themselves were pretty straight forward. When it came to the end, I one of the questions I asked was when they would have a decision. He said right now it is hard to tell because the position that is definitely opening up (K), the teacher's husband is military and they will be deployed, it is just a matter of when. It is supposed to be anytime from mid-Sept to November 5th. So they are just waiting to hear about that. He also said that enrollment is fluctuating too and that there could be something in 2nd and 4th grade but they are waiting on the main district office to give them the go ahead to hire additional staff. Last year they said they hired on 5 new teachers after the school year began because the numbers went up sooo much. In that area, I believe it because the school is located in high military population. The P said that the next call I would receive would be from HR in regards to whether I have an offer or not. Right now, they are interviewing candidates so that when they do get the go ahead from district office, all they have to do is give them the names of who they want to hire. I am soooooooooooo hoping I am one of those people!!
